In this video, Jeremy Cioara covers the new Cisco ICND1 exam and what you can expect. The first thing to know is that the exam is going all the way with IP Subnetting to variable-length subnet masking and coupling it with access control lists.

The new Cisco ICND1 exam is replete with new topics, and in this clip, Jeremy gives a brief overview of what you can expect to be tested on. These begin with a more in-depth examination of IP Subnetting with Variable-Length Subnet Masking (VLSM).

You’ll also need to know about Access Control Lists (ACL) and how they reverse the standard traffic approval of a router: instead of a default “approve all” for traffic, the standard is “deny all” unless you set policies that allow traffic through.

These are just a few of the updated subjects, and Jeremy talks about more than a dozen major areas in this overview.

Argh! Just did CCENT a few weeks back, wish i'd have known. Its about time the curriculum got an update... talking about 802.11n like its just come about was wearing thin..along with the almost non-existent IPv6 content.. What happened to RIPng, surely that should be mentioned in the ICND1 !
