MicroNugget: What's New in the CCNA 2013?

In this video, Jeremy Cioara covers the new ICND1 and ICND2 exams for the CCNA certification. ICND1 includes more subnetting, depth, modernization and future growth, and a decreased emphasis on GUI and taste-testing. ICND2 increases its focus on areas like troubleshooting, switching, routing, and management, as well as scandal prevention.

In this video, you’ll learn the major differences between the two ICND exams, what material they cover, and the areas Cisco has substantially changed in this revision. ICND1 increases its focus on VLSM and adds depth in NAT, ACLS, and a higher emphasis on VLANs.

The test was modernized with the introduction of OSPF and IPv6 while removing information on Wi-Fi, serial links, and duplicated security information. ICND2 has been revamped to include a higher emphasis on all areas of troubleshooting. Other material that’s been added includes more on switching (STP, EtherChannel), routing (EIGRP, multi-area OSPF, and OSPF3), management (SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow), and more scandal prevention (including iOS licensing).

Rob, thanks for the feedback and the suggestion on the CCIE level of training! We are sorry you have to leave CBT to get your CCIE training and we plan on recording this training series but do not have any timeframe on when this training will be started/finished.

Hi Pramod, it really comes down to what you want and if you think you can pass both exams before September 30th. If you can, Jeremy suggests taking the old exam, if not go for the new one. Most employers won't ask which CCNA you have just if you have one. You'll need to know the information at some point, because technology is changing but focus on getting certified and building up your skills. Skills are what helps you keep your job. Good luck! And let us know how it goes.

Hi pcangeldust, Yes. Usually when someone references simply CCNA or CCNP or CCIE without another title they are referring to R&S.

Yes! You are able to combine the old ICND1 and with the new ICND2 exam.

You currently have until September 30, 2013 to take the older CCNA exam before it retires. Also, Cisco has not announced any changes to the CCNP exams but for more information regarding exams, we recommend visiting Cisco's website.

Hey Carlos, that is correct that you have until September 30 2013 to take the old exam and it just depends where you are at in your career. Jeremy goes over expectations for the new exam in this video and states if you have the chance, take the old exam. With that being said, the new exam covers more material which in long run, could benefit your career.

Hesham,

We have already created training for the new CIsco CCENT/CCNA ICND1 100-101 and Cisco CCNA ICND2 200-101. You can find the training on the CBT Nuggets website.

Brian, Jeremy recommends that if you can finish studying the old exams before it expires, then to take the older exams.

CBT Nuggets training is worth every penny. Individual tracks would be an awesome option though. I am taking my ICND1 April 13, and my ICND2 on May 13. I am confident I will pass due in large part to Jeremy's videos. I plan to pursue Cisco certs all the way to CCIE level, and on the way using Jeremy's training for CCNP as well. Much love & respect CBT!

Jeremy's training Nuggets cover all of the material you will need to pass the 100-101 exam.

I'm a big Nuggets fan, earned my CCNA and A+ with you. However, you don't have updated CCIE level prep. I've had to migrate to INE for CCIE level technologies. From my perspective, you have 3 CCIE trainers, it's time to use them for what they bring to the table. I know a bunch of engineers that are Nugget trained to the CCNP and go to IPExpert or INE for advanced training. Just my opinion, still love CBT and a loyal viewer/customer! Rob

I'm sorry if we misunderstood your initial statement. At this time, we do not offer the purchase of individual course and we have taken note of your request. (You are not the first person to request this.) If I could ask you question, would you stop your training after the ICND1 exam training? What training would you move onto next if were to keep training?

No certification is better than the other but Jeremy recommends taking the old version if you can.

We are sorry our training is too expensive. Did you know that you can now get access to our complete IT training library for $99 a month.

Sorry you find the CCNA material to be difficult. Have you watched Jeremy's new CCNA training for the 100-101 and 200-101 exams?

No, your CCNA certification is not going to be worthless! Let us know how studying for the CCNP goes.
