Spot on, I was raised by a covert narcissist, my 2 elder sisters are the same as mum and I’ve spent 30 years in relationships with this type of person and I’ve just got out. Yourself and Lee Hammock have really been a support to me over the past year when I’ve felt like I’m going mad from the gas lighting ❤

this is messed up. My ex thinks im a narcissist and she told me, just off the cuff, conversationally, that 9/10 she says 'no' to sex but i have sex with her anyway. i was shocked. i almost cried. That straight up isnt true and i never forced myself on her. She would also say "you think you know everything" but id often tell her that i dont understand x y and z and that this person and this person is way better at it or smarter than me. Shed say 'you cant imagine not being in control' but she told me since day 1 that she wanted a man to make all these decisions for her because she hates making decisions. I thought maybe i am a narcissist, until i started watching these videos and I realized she must have been watching them, too and formulating a check list and then imagining me fitting every criteria. I have self worth and self esteem. i set boundaries. She absolutely hated that because she hates herself and she has told me countless times exactly how pathetic and worthless she thinks she is. I would say "you aren't any of those things" and then she accused me of gaslighting her! of knowingly lieing to her because I'd try to get her to have some self esteem. We'd get in big fights and id admit that she is those things because i was really really mad and done with her shit and that just further prooved, in her mind, that she was right about my gas lighting and being a narcissistic. It was ridiculous and im ashamed of myself for how i treated her and allowing her to drag me down

I was a subservient doormat for 18yrs. 17.5 yrs married and I left, and I'm still trying to get divorced almost 3yrs later. We hit our 20yr marriage mark only because he will not let go. He is punishing me for leaving him and taking our children.

My eyes 👀 are open now to what I could not see before. My ex fits at least 8 of these traits. This is heartbreaking 💔 to watch but he is absoulately obvilious to how he treats others and we have a son together which, really worries me a great deal just WoW!! It’s extremely confusing when dealing with a covert narcissist. As the observer you are left feeling the same way but everything surfaces much differently. So you don’t see it for a long time. Do u have a vid or link on covert narcissism? Everything you share is extremely helpful.

I've been sharing this series of vids on YouTube. Also want to mention that some of the traits will look different depending on narc type and your role. Golden wife/child may not experience certain traits but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Who you are around will influence that also! Toxic is toxic so see any trait as a warning sign and get help!

I unknowingly married that kind of duck ... But to be fair, I was raised in a cult that literally grooms us to fill the appropriate role as a woman and a man and the environment of control breeds narcissism.... #exmormon
