Gas vs electric cars: which is really better?

The development of the electric vehicle over the last few years has given people a new choice when deciding on a car. Indeed, the first thing people wonder about now is whether they could a gas or electric vehicle, or perhaps a hybrid.

The environmental impact of electric vehicles is not the only upside to consider since there are many other stats to think about, such as acceleration, pricing, and fuel efficiency. You may also want to consider what the future of vehicles may be.

In this video, we take a look at all these elements and show you how gas-powered engines perform over electric ones. We also cover the sustainability element.

Indeed electric vehicles are considered cleaner than gasoline ones because they don’t have exhaust systems, and so the vehicle emits no exhaust from a tailpipe. However, you must also consider where their power comes from.

If it comes from burning gas and coal, then the vehicle is not so green. For truly green credentials, the power must come from a renewable energy source such as solar or wind.

As you can see, evaluating which vehicle is better is not a simple question. If you have a hard time deciding for yourself, then watch our video to arm yourself with all the information you could ever need regarding gas vs. electric.

Depends on the environment. For cities, EV seems pretty reasonable given proximity of destinations. Out in the countryside is a different story.

If you really want what is good for the environment. Eliminate coal and replace it with hydroelectric, geothermal and nuclear power. We seem to believe that only solar and wind are clean. Modern Natural gas power plants are still relatively clean.

Methane can be used as fuel if we have the will to build an infrastructure to support it. Methane can be extracted from human waste and most other forms of waste to start. With that said gas and other internal combustion vehicles causes way more pollution than electric vehicles if you look at the process from start to finish. The cost to generate and transport oil from offshore, to the transportation using ships to trucks on land to the processing facilities to be refined to gas or diesel is extraordinarily high, only to get 20-30% efficiency from internal combustion engines, causing more pollution.

Solar power is the way to go... a hybrid of electricity with solar charging

Yeah, but sometimes too much torque at a fast pace, can cause whiplash, a crash, etc. I don’t want no arguments, but I’ll just stay with my gas pickup truck. But it also depends on what you’re doing as well. For example, going to work and back, EV is a good choice. Taking a longer road trip, gasoline is the better option. It’s all up to you

I'm sorry this was just a very poorly written commentary. It not only seems seems so dated unlike many of your other articles it had no detail It starts talking about Tesla and then it talks about other cars and there was no legitimate comparison other than something about ev cars that got ranges of 150 miles.

Car guys are mad about, ”EV’s are the future”

Still don't understand why Americans think their cars run on 'Gas' even though they fill their car tanks themselves with a liquid!

20 hours!? Seriously. With fast chargers it takes 20 to 30 minutes to charge to 80%. 20 hours is with a regular outlet.

In Norway gas prices are so high now. $8-$8.50 for a gallon of gas.. Driving electric is much cheaper

What about the carbon footprint of the car, and the recycling of metals?
You only coveted one side of the equation.

We have natural gas, petrol, diesel and biofuel cars.

Hydrogen fuel cell or electric?? 🤔
Which is going to win the race..
If hydrogen wins, definitely tesla will lose.

I would love if EVs replace gas powered cars.

Why? Because then there is much more oil left for us petrolheads :)

The car is not the problem. The charging station is the problem for EV to has a future and also the battery. How long will it last? What is the cost to replace it? Are the material to produce the battery is enough for 300years?? So many question. Maybe a hybrid is the answer.

Ev has less maintenance. Now we need to focus on clean energy and storing it.

Honda Civic 10th and 11th generations are still the best compact cars to buy when it comes to cost to own, fuel efficiency, interior space and aesthetics vs any version and year of the Model 3.

Critical informations are missing. When you run on EV.
1. Drive range significantly drops when you use heater or A/C.
2. Battery efficiency.. Or capacity also drops to 60% after 6-8 years and need to be replaced. Which will cost huge money.
3. Those replaced battery can not be recycled. They said they can.. But only small percent at a high cost. Economically impractical.

how much electric power would you need to power all the cars if everyone in the country drove an EV? Isn't electricity more expensive overall than gas? and how the hell would we get all that needed power just from renewable energy? Sounds almost impossible.
