If you shine brightly like a star in the universe, because you have an inner core of energy fueling your strong self-esteem, people will respect you for this; narcissists will fear you for this.

Their loyalty would be based on self-centeredness. They would be loyal to whomever they believe will help them attain their objectives. Therefore, this loyalty is not based on friendship, love, altruism, or idealistic beliefs, and, to me, is therefore not true loyalty.

H is in therapy. He came home the other day and proudly announced that he has a warrior’s mindset, is not self reflective and has no curiosity for those around him. Like it was a badge of honor and we just had to deal with it. He’s always right, enjoys hurting people and doesn’t care how bad. A malignant narc who’s proud of it. That is dangerous

I found the loyalty component of malignant narcissism particularly interesting. I think we can all think of historical figures and even people in positions of power who display this this type of loyalty.

Sounds like Stalin. He wouldn't have attained the position he did without being at least somewhat loyal to his political party. But he is also said to have kept photos of the torture of his opponents, which he would laugh at. Perhaps with ASPD, the sadism is indiscriminate, whereas with malignant NPD the sadism is reserved for those who would thwart one's ambition.
