I just received the book and, as a first impression, before I open it, I can say that it is gorgeous. it is so pleasant to the touch, so robust and yet delicate, the attention to detail is extraordinary. you can feel the seriousness with which it was created and that only makes me more impatient to read it. thank you for your effort, dedication and passion for people, for health and for the desire to leave behind a better world by sharing the knowledge accumulated over years of work. you are wonderful! Just found you... I have lost 130 pounds (66 year old woman) via Keto and fasting and have kept it off for 4 years now. I started my Keto/fasting journey in 2017.) Keto has been amazing in controlling my RA pain, for 2 years now my doctor even says that due to my blood tests (CR5 levels) I can consider myself to be in remission. Anyway, I have decided to lose the last 10 pounds (those last pounds seem very stubborn) and am currently on hour 40 of a water only fast. My longest fast is 5 days. I have heard elsewhere that eating a small amount of butter during a long fast will not stop autophagy. I noticed that you don't mention butter on your "good fat" list in this video. Does butter completely stop autophagy and why is butter not on your "good" list? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and information!

I am 63 hours into my 4th 72-hour fast and feeling great. I regularly re-watch your videos for info, focus and encouragement during my prolonged fasting.

I found the best benefits from including all fatty cuts of meat and fish, eggs/egg yolks, beef trimmings and tallow, ghee, butter, bacon, duck and chicken fat. So-called seed oils proved to be an expensive waste. Doing far better after eliminating all those and using GOOD animal fats to heal from RA, diabetes, hypertension, severe periodontitis and other diseases.

I often break a fast with some wonderful good old fashioned grass-fed butter! I cook w/it all the time as well, dont remember when I last bought olive oil. But yeah still guilty on the peanut oil front bc I wont give up my natural peanut butter, sigh. Thx Dr M!

My lab results are here.. 89 blood sugar and 12, 6 Insulin resulting in an HOMA score of 2, 8.
2.5 to 5 is and "propably insuline resistance" and that was after 16 hours fasting (I did the test at around 10:00 in the morning)
5 and above is typical for type 2 diabetes.. 😐

Hi Dr. Mindy! I finished reading your book. I appreciate all the amazing information. I think I just need some clarification on one thing: you mention that if any beverage increases your blood sugar, that means that your fast has been broken. I wanted to test a favorite beverage of mine to see how my body reacts to it, and sure enough, my blood sugars increased from 77 to 83, 30 minutes in. HOWEVER, my ketones went from 0.4 to 0.7 (which, you've said anything over 0.5 indicates you're now in fat-burning mode). The beverage was non-sweetened almond milk, a small amount of dark plain cocoa powder, and some MCT oil. For weight loss, wouldn't it be considered a positive benefit that it increased my ketones? I don't want to be consistently breaking my fast, but the rise in ketones seems like a good thing.

I lost 30# 2022 with your plan! I gained 20# back and I need to start over!! How do I do this?? Would it be ok to fast 24* and do OMAD? What will get me back on track?? The fat does really help and I used MCT oil and avocados when I fasted before!

I'm interested to know why you are using oils as fats rather than food as fats. It also answers my question about why I am not hungry for 8 hours after my blends. Which are soaked flaxseed, Chia seed, black sesame seeds, and Brazil nuts. Sometimes as extra I add germinated buckwheat.
This all gets blended in a vacuum blender so it doesn't oxidize. The Chia seeds I add afterward as they don't need blending and it means I eat my blends rather than drinking it, I also eat walnuts with it. 3 Brazil nuts more than give you enough selenium for the day. Black sesame seeds have 15 times as much calcium as white ones and provide the calcium. Chia seeds and flax seeds produced tons of Omega 3 oils. Anyway there's my main menu for anybody who is interested.

Apart from putting MCT oil in coffee- any other ways to incorporate the good fat? Am I just to spoon it straight!

Be careful with MCT oil. It has unpleasant side effects which I have personally experienced. If you choose to use it I suggest starting slow and see how your body reacts.

I was wondering if you could comment some more on coconut oil, there is a lot of contradictory information about it, some say it is a great and healthy fat and others say it's even worse than pork lard and will cause health issues when consumed regularly. Who is right here?
