Rooster yelling "THIS IS NOT GOOD!" sounded so much like his father, it was haunting. That, and the music playing being the same track that played when Goose was killed made this scene so powerful.
I also like that Maverick got to know what it felt like to be saved by someone like himself.

Every character needs an arc. Hangman's arc was having everyone realize how very good he is.

Hangman was a jerk with a ego attitude, but I like the character development when he's realized that things just got serious and shows respect.

I love how Maverick knew Hangman would be the fastest and most lethal to help save them if they did make it out of there, great personnel picking for the right tasks.

Saw this opening night at an IMAX theater. The audience broke out into applause when Hangman's F18 emerged from the smoke and flames after shooting down the enemy fighter. It'll forever will remain one of my all time favorite theater moments.

These pilots are all A-type personalities, and it's the way they're trained to be. Confident, go-getters, best of the best. Although that attitude is not going to make new friends - it doesn't mean that they're bad people. You can see how much Hangman wanted to help. All he cared was about the mission success and the safety of his fellow aviators. For me, he's one of my favorite characters.

This scene really made you think it was over for Maverick, even though you already knew they weren’t gonna let him die, it’s just a feeling that I don’t know how to explain, which made Hangman’s rescue all the more unexpected and relieving

This is the best role for Hangman. He doesn't do team work. He's good alone

I hope that Glen Powell gets more roles, he's such an underrated actor!

The top gun gong that goes off when Hangman comes though the smoke made this scene more epic than it already was.

Maverick almost shows no fear but the part where he says “I’m sorry goose” really gets me knowing he was about to let him down

I liked how Hangman redeemed himself by saving Maverick and Rooster, he was arrogant until he took it serious and shown some respect!!

Man it was so good seeing this in a packed IMAX theater. When Hangman saved them, the theater cheered and applauded. It was such a fantastic moment.

I loved when Rooster said to Hangman "Hey Hangman, you look good" and says back "I am good Rooster, I'm very good" reminds me when Iceman told to Maverick "You can be my wingman anytime" along with a correlation between Maverick and Iceman hugging while Rooster and Hangman hug at the end as well. Such great callbacks. Seeing this in theaters gave me goosebumps as Maverick and Rooster wouldn't have made it without Hangman shooting the SU-57 fighter down.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Goose." I'm still emotional in 2024 with that line! Amazing movie. Well done everyone associated with it.

It's a nice nod to how in the dogfighting drills, Maverick taught Hangman to attack when the enemy is distracted, and Hangman used that in combat.

That shot of them flying into the sunset is incredible

In this scene, for me at least, Hangman represents the element of hope. Hope that things will get better in the darkest of times. The music combined with the way he smiles with his eyes is so unbelievably cool :) Makes my day better everytime I see it. Brings out the optimist in me.

I knew hangman was gonna save them but it didn't lessen how amazing it was to watch. He's basically a younger maverick.
And all the scenes of him on the boat reacting to hearing his comrades possibly dying and him getting excited for them when they succeeded is why I love the dude

Also: Does anybody know if mav ejected would it have engaged roosters as well? Cause i just realized if that's not the case mav accepted death and not abandoning his wingman

incredible scene. 1:24 Rooster screaming "MAV" was like a kid screaming for dad when in fear.
