I love the fact that there is no “tense” music.

The heavy breathing ALONE makes it 10000 times more intense.

A minute of silence for the people that got to work on nuclear factory that sunday just to get bombed by a guy named Bob

I do like how they show even Tom Cruise struggled to do this mission instead of the usual hero or "old man" doing it without any issue. Conveys how dangerous and difficult this mission is.

Everybody giving props to Bob for that successful aim. He inherit that air aiming ability from his dad, former Desert Storm pilot who also stopped an alien invasion while being POTUS.

“that’s miracle number 2.”
“now they’re in coffin corner.”

that line and the entire scene sequence after that has me on the edge of my seat every time

One thing Cruise absolutely understands about modern cinema is the meta experience. So many people are up to speed on what's real, what's practical, and what's CGI well before a movie is released. Just sitting here watching this on Youtube, knowing Cruise, Teller, and everyone else were actually in those cockpits out in the sky absolutely heightens the experience.

Cruise out did himself on this one, along with everyone else. The dogfighting scenes are incredible. I literally feel like I'm in the plane with them. Best movie of 2022 hands down. Thank you.

1:12 God, this shot. That sound. Will never forget what it was like watching this in theatres the first time. A pure EXPERIENCE.

1:16 is one of the coolest shots I have ever seen in a theater

2:07 Rooster hits his head on the canopy as he flies over the peak! In the behind-the-scenes, the director said this was technically an accident since Miles Teller should've been better strapped in, but it looked so good he used that take

Just noticed that Mav asked his wingman to check the lasers before approaching the target, while rooster didn't and their laser did fail.

I really like the theme of the movie. Early on Admiral Cane talks about how the future doesn’t need pilots like them. But Maverick believes that pilots are crucial because they make choices that AI or anything else can’t. They act on instinct and that’s exactly what Rooster had to do here too. Fanboy didn’t get the laser in time so Rooster acted on his instinct and shot blind. It really puts into perspective how important each pilot is.

You cut the part where Hangman is cheering like crazy on the hit announcement. He wanted to be on the mission and rather than pout like a child he was ready to support and even had a major hand in saving the day. I've wondered if Maverick wanted him on deck for his "come in and save the day if we're in a dogfight" ability. He was the one that pushed Maverick the most in the dogfight scenes.

2:47. Those missiles landing perfectly into the bunker is this generation's Star Wars trench run. I felt that.

"Rooster, you've switched off you're targeting computer, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm all right"

Just finished watching this movie on blu-ray.... absolutely amazing. My only regret is that I didn't see it in IMAX when it was still in theaters.

1:14 I love how you can see Phoenix and Bob's jet right behind his from inside the cockpit while performing this extreme maneuver. My favorite shot in the movie. And the most impressive if there really was no CG in that shot.

Bob was an underrated character in this movie. He worked extremely hard and cared about all the pilots.

“BULLSEYE, BULLSEYE, BULLSEYE!” I was out of my seat in the theater and cheering! So was everyone else…. It still sends chills up and down my spine.
