CLOSE THE BORDER! There are many people in Canada and the US who need help, the homeless and poor. Sending all these children here is NOT acceptable, it puts a burden on our governments when we can't take of our own. Mexico and Central America does not practice birth control, these places are severely over populated, shuffling the children across the border does not solve the problem.

Illegal crossings should be stopped now! I am a liberal and an immigrant. I waited for over a year and had a lot hurdles, including relatives signing that they would be financially responsible for us. Gang violence in home countries should not be a reasonable excuse for seeking asylum; famine or mass murder of civilians should be the only legitimate reasons for asylum. Folks can work to make their own government leaders accountable to improve their circumstances at home. Illegal immigrants(regardless of age) should be deported promptly and forfeit any future chance to come here. The entire application process should be done in the home countries. Commerce across the border should be the only activity there!

These people knowingly illegally entered our country. Why and how are these people in any way our responsibility?

While this indeed may be a humanitarian disaster this country cannot afford these overwhelming numbers of illegal immigrants. Unless the ultra wealthy and corporations chose to finance these expenses. As it stands we cannot afford thousands and thousands of people being in hotels by our government or on programs that include child and adult protective services; programs addressing weather emergencies and homelessness; shelters, soup kitchens and meals delivered to individuals; medical, public health and mental health services; disability or substance abuse services necessary to protect life or safety; and programs to protect workers and other community members. We ARE NOT helping literally millions of US citizens that lost their jobs prior to and after Covid-19 as we DO NOT have enough homeless shelters, food banks or free kitchens, or other services to help OUR OWN CITIZENS. The RESPONSIBILITY to help the citizens of South and Central America BELONGS TO THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE COUNTRIES THEY CAME FROM NOT THE USA. SEND THEM BACK AND HELP US CITIZENS FIRST - THEN HELP OTHERS.

But no recognition of the thousands of men doing the same exact things. Sure.

As a woman I do not have children but I am appalled at the photographs we see from these Juvenile detention centers in South Texas. We roundly criticized Trump for these detention centers and now we reopen them and they are far worse than what we saw with Trump. We see children sleeping on the floors with tinfoil blankets. In Midland Texas a detention camp had no running water and for a nationals had to drink out of a hose from a well.
This is not who we are. We need to send these juveniles back to their home country because American law does not allow a juvenile to make a life-changing decision until they are the age of majority. We need to return them back to their parents or at least back to their home countries so authorities there can return these children to their families. This is not who we are to allow this human suffering.

open borders = overpopulation = fewer jobs = stagnant wages = greater social ills
That's a formula for disaster. Democrats don't care as long as it gets them more votes.
