We bought 2 of these for our business and took delivery Jan 18 2022. After a year, 1 has 25900 km (16, 100 miles) and the other is at 18750 km (11, 700 miles). Both trucks are mostly city driven (90% city / 10% highway) and we are still getting about 6L/100 or 39.2 mpg. The trucks are driven in and around the Fraser Valley (east of Vancouver BC) and we have ordered 2 more for 2023 / 2024 (we are told we are getting them in 2023). These are FANTASTIC trucks for city work ... my fuel bill is 1/3 of what is used to be (running a Dodge Ram 1500 and a Ford F250).

I ordered a hybrid and then it never got built. Waited a year. Took a gas model that was headed in to the dealer and it wasn't spoken for. But it is a nice XLT AWD with tow package. Probably the best utility Maverick they make. No disappointment. Looking back over the year I have had it, I am glad I got switched to it. It has been flawless and does everything it was meant to do. Mine has the side curtain airbag recall waiting too. Great combo of power and economy. 26 city and 32-36 hiway. Funny thing is, though my order is canceled, Ford still sends me e-mails with excuses as to why they never built my hybrid! Really enjoyed your review. Thanks!

I absolutely love my 2023 Ford maverick, hybrid, XLT with the luxury package. I would definitely buy mine again in a heartbeat. I will tell anyone looking for a very fuel efficient truck. A fair review, Sam. Have had my hybrid for six months now and agree about the brakes, though would like to emphasize that the slight stumbles occur (on mine, at least) only rarely, and only at or below walking speeds. Hardly a safety hazard -- and with gentle use at such speeds, almost nonexistent. Love the sport bars. Keep up the good work.

Sam, I really enjoy your reviews! You have a gift of communications that you take complex issues and make them so understandable. I have a 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid and have had it for 4 months. I love the truck, I previously had a F150 with the 5.0 litre engine. The truck was just too big for me. I am 68 years old. I love the Hybrid. I think your analysis was spot on the brakes and radio, but at the end of the day I would not trade my truck. I had 5 old Rangers and I loved the smaller size but still had a truck bed to load things in. You always need a truck!! Changing the oil is a breeze, once you remove the protective plate the oil filter just drops down and there are no impediments like the F150 with the sway bar that is in your way. I waited for 1 year 3 days to receive my Maverick. The dealer actually discounted the truck. I am extremely pleased with the vehicle and you have to realize this vehicle is not a Porsche. Keep up the great work. Dean P

Coming up on 12 months hybrid Xl w/360 currently at 35, 700 miles - no dash rattles, tires replaced at 30, 000 miles. Rarely experience the grippy slow speed brakes. Drove it coast to coast and back, radio sounds good until I use my phone to play Amazon music thru it then it’s a little tin can like. Plastics holding up well - no scratches. Even did some light overlanding with it - love it ordered a 23 too. I do like your retro stickers /wrap

Have had my MAV hybrid for 10 months. I have seen as much as 60+ MPG with hyper mile driving in city driving. Haven’t really noticed the braking problem. Only other issue is the sleep mode which the truck goes into after sitting for a few days or hours depending on how much driving I’ve done in electric mode. Not a big deal though. I’ve gotten a lot of comments from people who want one of these. Love this truck.

After a 13 month wait, I picked up my Maverick Lariat hybrid in July 2022. Totally agree with the weird brakes, which I am used to, but my wife hasn't driven my Mav yet. I need to have her do that soon so that it doesn't freak her out. Other than that, the truck has been great. I only have 4900 miles on it (I'm retired and don't drive as much as I used to) and bringing it in for an oil change/service next week. Would I buy it again, especially considering the premium I paid for the Lariat package? The answer is a resounding YES!

Balanced review. I'd still buy one. I'd probably sell it before warranty expiration though.

Looks like all of the ownership realities covered in this video, only 6 months in but it’s the same (XLT Hybrid). Good job Sam.

Put 7k miles on it already. Zero complaints this vehicle is just a pleasure to drive and the utility has come in handy more times than I can count.

That wrap is awesome! Ford should offer something like that from the factory.

The problem with the maverick for a lot of people is that they want both the hybrid mileage AND the AWD. Unfortunately that’s not an option currently. For that, you either need a Santa Cruz or move up to the mid sized trucks.

Absolutely loving XL hybrid. I'm seeing between 46-54 mpg in summer, though it drops to around 36-37 mpg in winter. I don't have the brake issue, but my Ford/Android auto system did glitch a bit till upgrading the software (kind of a weird, unintuitive touch sequence for upgrading it!), which seems to have helped (other than being a bit laggy at times...not a big deal).
It's a great truck otherwise. It rides more like a nice car, and has been pretty indispensable for Home Depot trips, furniture purchases, camping trips, hauling kayaks or bicycles, and a lot more. The other surprise is how well this thing behaves in the snow - I live in an area that gets a lot of it, and it's never had one problem zipping through it and staying on course, especially in slippery mode. No need for AWD.

My 2023 Lariat hybrid came in 3 weeks ago. I was really nervous about the brake issue. I made sure it had the software update before I took delivery. The dealer told me they had checked and it had the latest software updates. Thankfully, I haven’t noticed the grabby brake issue in the first 450 miles. Maybe they figured out something better for the ‘23s.
