A Ford Maverick uses both an electric battery and an internal combustion gasoline engine. So a lot of people want to know how the electric battery pack is charged. There are 3 ways to charge the battery and all of them take no time whatsoever! But if Ford or other manufacturers come out with a Plug-In Hybrid truck in the future that will change. For now, here are the 3 ways!

Correction: the hybrid battery is under the front passenger seat general area! A bit further forward than I show in this video!

Brenden...the battery under the seat behind the passenger seat is NOT the hybrid battery...that battery is a 12 volt battery...
The 450 volt d.c. hybrid battery is located under the vehicle on the passenger side covered with a shield...don't EVER mess with it or ANY orange wires under the hood !! ... please watch you-tube videos on this subject....

I just bought a '23 Ford Maverick XLT last month and I love the gas savings! Coming from a 2012 Nissan Frontier gas guzzler I see a huge difference. I am a single gal so its perfect car for me but I feel a car seat could fit in the back for those wondering.

I agree with Brendan 100 %. I just bought a 25 AWD hybrid. I wish the hybrid battery was a little larger and a plug in. that would take the MPG to a whole new level. My wife has a 24 Toyota Pries plug in and we are getting over 100 MPH that is amazing. That is so much better the EV cars because they are over priced and on a long trip you need to spend 45 minutes at a charge station.

Ford did the right thing by bringing back this engine in a hybrid (see 2008-2012 Escape hybrid). You can drive in battery only with a gentle right foot and under 40MPH. I average 35MPG in my 2009 FEH with 110K miles. They are proven engines and batteries with Manhattan and San Francisco Taxi Cabs with well over 400K miles on them with no rebuilds required.

Hybrid vehicles are the best answer for efficient road transportation, and have been for 20+ years.
Thank you Toyota.

I love my maverick ❤ we did have the no start no crank eyelet connection issue which ford recalled and fixes 4 free but tool a few days 2 get it in at the dealership so during that time I still had 2 use our truck 2 take kids back and forth to and from school ect so what we did 2 start the truck was connect one end of the jumper cable 2 that front battery located under the hood and the end to the back battery located under the back seat and boom it cranked right on up no need 4 another vehicle no need for a portable battery charger it worked like a charm so if any1 is having that issue and can't get it fixed at that moment just follow those steps and ur all good😊

The battery under the back seat is the 12v battery. The large Hybrid Lithium Battery is underneith the chasis below the were the rear seats are.

Does Eco mode save much gas? That battery under the seat is the 12v battery. I don't think that is the highvoltage battery. I got good mileage out of my Taurus by being easy on the gas petal

At 2 mins in you mentioned a green light that comes on when it has enough electricity.. what light? Where? I've had my Maverick hybrid for a few months now and I never noticed a light that goes on and off..?

Perfect video. Answered my questions except one. Do you feel the truck shake a little or rumble when the gas engine turns on? Had a ride home one time in a Volvo something or other and the whole car would rumble and shake when the engine came on. Definitely would affect longevity in my opinion.

Good video. Could you show how a car seat fits in the back? I can't get access to a Maverick, because nobody has one. I hope to order one when things open up again. If a car seat does not fit, I will need to look at something else.

If someone buys a truck just to drive 5 miles to work, and 5 miles back, there is not really a reason to get a truck. For most situations, a truck is actually worse than a sedan, or hatchback, or station wagon. Buy groceries, your stuff is either in the back seat where people sit, or it's in the bed of the truck sliding around, or blowing out.

Sure, there are covers for the bed, but then your stuff still slides around. So then you need to get a tool to hold the stuff in place, so you don't need to climb up into the bed to get your cans of food, or what ever you have back there, which slid all over the place.

Sure, you can put a bike in the back of a pickup truck, but you can also get a bike rack for your car. Or roof racks, for the rare occasion you take something big with you.

Honestly, the only 2 situations I can see a truck being useful is to move tall objects, like a fridge. But even then, it's hard to lift it up into the truck. A small trailer would be easier, as it's lower to the ground.

Sure, you can put something like plywood in the back of a truck, or long boards.. But roof racks again will solve that.

Or maybe, if you move smelly stuff, like mulch, then sure, it is better in the truck.

Something like the Nissan Leaf would be a better option for most people. Or maybe an older BMW i3 with a range extender. Not sure, but just some ideas.

But America, being America, most of us buy a pickup truck to look "Cool", and come up with very small reasons to ever need it..

Can the plug-in hybrid have ability to regenerate the hybrid battery like regular hybrid. If no, that's why it can't.

Ford's last dealer software update to the power module has a flaw. My 2022 Hybrid now goes into battery saver mod anytime I turn it off.
