How to Make Ketones without a Keto Diet

Ketones are normal compounds that show up in your body when the body's primary fuel, glucose, is running low. Ketones come from the breakdown of fat so if they are present, fat is being burned. Following a keto diet is an effective way to coax your body to make ketones, but it is not the only way. In this video, I share actions that you can take to boost ketone production in your body, even if you are not fully keto.

Thank you for this. I gave up a strict keto diet a few months ago and now do low carb with all the elements you mentioned. It's not often watch one of your videos and think "yup, I'm doing good!" x

So good, so true. I've gained 6 lbs during the past few weeks because of self-isolation - run out of green, leafy vegetables, eating way more rice and pasta from the back of my cupboard, exercising less, and drinking more alcohol. Your calm approach is motivating.

I would say intermittent fasting is the most natural and efficient way to increase ketone production. I say this because intermittent fasting address the two most important factors when it comes to ketone production. intermittent fasting lower insulin and blood glucose which lead to natural path to ketone production. for instance low carb diet by it self won't address the insulin factor.,

Glad i stumbled on this video . Having been diagnosed type 2 diabetic in december i immediately researched it.Low carb is definitely the way for me but staying in ketosis has been abit hit and miss.I have lost 55lb without really exercising so have ordered some mct oil and an exercise bike after watching this video.

Love learning the doctoral details as to how I can make ketones without following a ketogenic diet. The keto diet does not appeal to me, and thank goodness I don't need to go there. I'm doing very well with your low-carb diet interspersed with 16:8 IF. Idea: Maybe do a doctoral presentation as to how IF can help people avoid/overcome COVID-19 due to autophagy and basic cellular cleansing, etc? Just a thought. Love you and Dr. Keith oodles.

Glucose blocks ketones! Very interesting!! Had to replay that part a few times. Gotta deplete that glucose!! Lower carbs!?? Not on keto but will lower carbs.
I do take mct oil in morning coffee.

Thanks for another informative video. Given the situation with COVID-19, we all want to do the best we can, but there is a lot of data out there, some conflicting. I recently watched a video from 2016 regarding a Yale University study on the effects of Ketones on viral infections vs bacterial infections. Ketones were found to be helpful in bacterial infection, but not in viral infections. I understand that your video is not being presented in the context of COVID-19, but I can't help but try to relate it. I don't claim to have any answers or advice, I'm just trying to share information so that people can increase their own knowledge and try to decide what is best in this very trying, very confusing, and rapidly changing time. I just happened on to this video, it is great, short and simple! She's right about the stomach upset with MCT. I found a great powder that also has grassfed collagen from Native Path(I'm a real user not a marketer). No stomach upset.

She says the best way to make ketones is with a low carb diet and fasting. I agree. If you take MCT oil or other precursors you are just taking in more energy so more of your carbs will be stored as fat. If you want ketones for your brain just understand you are still much better off with low carb/fasting.
