Yamaha Tenere 700: First Impressions

This is a first impressions review of the 2020 Yamaha Tenere 700. In a nut shell, this is a great middle weight adventure motorcycle for the money. Yes there are more powerful middleweights and more technologically advanced middle weights but dollar for dollar this is a hard motorcycle to beat. Plenty of power for most people, decent suspension (might need adjusting if you are a bigger person), and great value for the money. This is definitely worth a test ride if you are in the market for a middle weight adventure bike 😎👍

I’ll be ordering one with my local dealer as soon as available in the US

The simplicity of the bike is what i like. Less things to go wrong but with better seat and suspension tuning, they can install a new higher comp. Spring in the rear. Some panniers and you will be set. Waiting to test ride one in the U.S. along with the Harley Pan Am.

I want this bike, thanks for showing it off even if your riding in traffic gives me anxiety.

Had a ride on one the other day. I agree with 95% of what you said. handling, balance, ergos and windscreen are spot on, seat is horrid. I recon It looks fantastic, and no I don't want any tech but cruise control would of been nice. Better fuel capacity is needed, especially here in Aus but I believe Safari and others are working on that now. It really is a fantastic bike and will hopefully be putting a deposit down in the coming weeks.

The one Japanese bike I can think of that came with surprisingly nice aluminum bashguards was the Versys 650 LT (which is a pretty awesome bike, as a full package, too) - and that's pretty close in price (at least in the USA) and features to this one!

I'm in the USA. No bikes here yet. From what I can get from the reviews I'd like it. Hope to one soon.

Motor and gearbox are as smooth as butter, and handles nicely in Traffic.

You can take off from a stop in second! It definitely needs upgraded levers, hand guards, and seat. I wish it had cruise control. Aside from that it’s a great machine!

I bet that senior citizen on the gopher was taking it out for a test review. On his Youtube channel he looks at you and says: crazy young whippersnapper.

Yes I’ve been waiting for this... haven’t listen to it yet but I thought it was a good bike for what you do. 2 bikes in 1. Weight being the only thing I question. Btw I love the look... maybe a few farkles

Great review, I put a deposit on one last week so that when the pre orders open up I will be in line for the first batch to 🇺🇸. Hoping to see it in June.

Good review considering amount of time and where you rode it.
I do find it expensive though.

Good review mate, like the red & white paint scheme, how good does the stock exhaust sound. Keep the reviews coming brother 👍

For lightweight riders (I’m 184cm and 71 kg) weight and decent suspension for the dirt trumps highway prowess. I think that every middleweight adv bike on the market gives the same test ride impressions but the true test is in the dirt or making u turns on narrow trails or having to pick them up by yourself. You can fix the seat, add a small screen, add some luggage/fuel capacity to the EXC/CRF450L/WR and you will be 70kg+ lighter than those monsters. The CRF can now be bought for $11, 000 ride away and there are some kitted very low Klm ones out there for the same price whereas the T700 is at least $17, 000 ride away with no add-ons. The biggest issue with the CRF is the fuel capacity. Have a look at John T Young’s latest YT video re his CRF.
