Discover how to track marketing campaigns and advertising campaigns using Google Analytics. I will go over how to use the Google Analytics Campaign URL Builder if you have never used it before, and how UTM tracking works. You are able to track specific campaigns for your business and tie them back to your social traffic, paid traffic, email traffic, and referral traffic. If you are having trouble tracking Facebook Ads campaigns, tracking Google Ads campaigns, and tracking conversions in general back to specific sources of traffic, this is the video for you. The Campaign URL Builder is a tool that allows you to add specific campaign parameters like source, medium, ad content, and campaign terms to URLs so you can track Custom Campaigns in Google Analytics.

Video Table of Contents:

00:00 - Start of video covering the Campaign URL Builder
01:00 - Track Facebook Ads Campaigns into your Google Analytics account
02:15 - Build URL Parameters in Facebook Ads
08:00 - Track Google Ads Campaigns into your Google Analytics account
15:05 - How to Use the Google Analytics Campaign URL Builder

In the case you are just getting started with conversion tracking, I have some helpful videos below for Google Ads and Facebook Ads. PPC Advertising channels have made it much easier to track your conversions so you can understand all of the key actions happening on your website. Then, if you are tracking key performance indicators like sales, leads, bookings, calls, and more, you can learn about the sources of traffic that are driving meaningful results to your business.

For this specific video, I will be going over 3 separate examples. The first will cover how to track Facebook Ads campaigns into your Google Analytics account. While you can separate your Facebook social traffic and Facebook Ads traffic in Google Analytics, you need to create custom URLs with UTM Parameters in order to understand your top performing campaigns, ad sets, and ads.

After that, I will go over how to track your Google Ads campaigns directly into Google Analytics. With Google AdWords, it is much easier because you just need to link your 2 accounts. Once you link your Google Analytics and Google Ads accounts, you will have auto-tagging enabled and you can track every little detail. That will help you understand exactly how your campaigns are performing.

Last but not least, I will show you how to track a specific marketing campaign or advertising campaign with multiple traffic sources. You will need to use the Campaign URL Builder and plan all the different sources of traffic for your website. Then, you will have 1 campaign in Google Analytics and you can see the successes of your campaign and learn when you run follow-up campaigns as well.

When you create the UTM link on FB Ads, is that automatically synced with Analytics through its source/medium? Is there some further integration needed to have this available on Analytics?

Everyone says that I should put "cpc" as medium if it's paid facebook (e.g. Facebook Ads). However, google's support page for "Default channel definitions" only list "cpc" as a medium for Paid Search. How should I do it?

Hi - Thank you so much for all the amazing videos. I have learned a lot from your videos. I have two questions:
1- I am seeing a huge difference in the data that I am seeing on Facebook Ads Manager and that in Google Analytics. It seems as my GA is not recording/tracking most of the conversion Data. Could you please tell me why?

2- I see that you also have a column of cost available when you are evaluating the performance of your campaigns. I don't have the column for cost. Have you imported this from Data Import in the Admin tab? Could you please make a video tutorial for it as to explain how to import cost data for different Facebook Campaigns respectively?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

That's great information, thanks. What I would like to know is where and what is Facebook -, email - and Pinterest referral and what's the difference between that and just the cpc sources?

Thanks for doing this video... it's a little over my head. Can Google Analytics be used to track Clickbank sales (in place of trackers like Clickmagick and Voluum)?

So where do i put the campaign URL at? If I want to track it on bing? I see that you were talking about paid and all campaigns. I dont have tracking conversion. So last week i made my first commission on bingads. I was trying to look up which keyword made me the same. I went to Google Analytics.. Found the 2 keyeords. That had the longer session one was 4:55 and the other was 1:28 long. So i decided to save those exact keywords and add them to my new ad group. Is this the way to do it?

Off Topic from this video. Serious question: After you create a Parallax AD in Google Web Designer. You hit publish. You select Locally, Google Drive, Studio, Display Video 360. I pick locally. After I save the Zip drive to my folder on my computer. How do I then upload it to Google Ad Words ? Where or how do you upload your Zip file in the Google Ads portal ? Also once it gets uploaded how do you assign it to an Ad Group to run ? Hope my question makes sense. Thank you sir.
