Once a week, I abstain from doing something I like to focus on other things. This makes my life more productive AND more enjoyable.

Edit: I changed the title to "abstain" so it doesn't have eating disorder connotations.

Also the word "pleasure" in my description is taken from the studies on the pain pleasure cycles in our brain. Feel free to look more into it if you want to formulate some theories on how this works.

Edit: "detox" fits but some people really dislike this word. Every video I've ever seen about any type of "detox" has people arguing in the comments about whether it's legitimate.

Suddenly, I’ve become quite addicted to doing my homework.

I appreciate how wholesome and not-teachery this guy is. The energy of "hey! Check out this cool thing I discovered! :D I like it and maybe you'd like it to. No pressure or judgment. Have a beautiful day" is so pleasant and encouraging. It really makes it enjoyable to try the things he suggests rather than making it feel like just another thing I now know I'm SUPPOSED to do.

Honestly, I love this man. Any time I see his content I immediately feel "safe" as weird as that sounds, his voice is very calming and the way he talks to us the viewers is a mix between a friend and a teacher. I wish I could shake his hand and thank him for his content.

You are the first “influencer” to ever actually inspire me. Thank you for not going over the top constantly and for being honest about everything!

This is something that is taught in Hinduism! Specifically my grandparents don’t eat onions, garlic, or any alliums on Tuesdays because they really like onions to cook with and it’s something that shows self restraint and makes their cooking more creative to cook without any alliums as the base of their aromatic cooking

I abstain from listening to music for weeks then return to it and I'm completely amazed by the songs again as if it was like the first time I listened to it.

As someone with both parents being addicts and having a ultra mega addictive personality where I unhealthily latch onto literally everything that gives me a dopamine boost and also being a recovering drug addict this is actually amazing advice. I have a giant list of escapism after escapism that everytime I try to quit one permanently I just go to the next one down the line. So instead of tryna cold turkey one thing and just latch onto a less unhealthy one I can build a stronger sense of discipline and help distance myself from the dependency I have on everything without the cold turkey permanently fear and anxiety. You're amazing

You are amazing. I have to say, I absolutely love your videos! You bring about very good ENERGY through your content. You touch the lives of many and you do it with ease, so naturally. Keep the content coming! I hope you boom even more than you already have!

As the end of Lent approaches and Ramadan is starting, this video is really perfectly timed!!

Lent is when Christians give up one thing they love, or sometimes give up all fats and sweets (depending upon denomination and personal preference). Some people choose to fast, but for such a long period of time with no breaks tends to be dangerous.

Ramadan of course is when Muslims fast during daylight hours (if they are able to).

I’m agnostic-atheist, but I think religions have a very good reason to encourage people to be appreciative of the little things!

Sometimes I like to sit/lay somewhere and think about all the things I am grateful for: a soft chair or bed, warm blankets, clean clothes, running water, food, a toilet that flushes, my loving family&friends, my loving animals/pets, glasses that fit, access to healthcare (sorry america!), access to dental and optical care, a warm home (or a cooler home in summer!), beautiful countryside, friendly neighbours, technology, access to videos online when I am bored/lonely/want to learn, access to education (books, internet, libraries, maybe some free courses if applicable), soft clothes. A home free from insects (mostly). Chocolate. Beautiful home decorations, mugs/cups with things that make me smile on them, hot chocolate/tea, cushions and pillows, access to music! The ability to choose what to do when I have free time…

There are so many tiny things I take for granted every day, and I should be enjoying them more! Some of them are more enjoyable when I take a break, some I just need to think about properly.

Even just having a chair is more than enough to make my day more comfortable and happy!

💜
