Avoiding porn is like getting out of the matrix

And people in school mocked me when I told them my parents had completely blacklisted adult content on every device we owned. I have never been exposed to pornography and I thank them every day for doing what they did. Safe to say I will be doing the same for my children.

At 21 years old i was extremely addicted to porn. Seven years later I’m happy to say i am now 28 years old.

I'm approaching 90 days porn free, I'm on day 81 today. Let me tell you, the day I finished that book your brain on porn changed my life in a way so confronting it was hard to believe. I've been gradually quitting porn for the last 2-3 years and it's been very difficult. I've been looking up porn since 10 years old and started watching vids at 14, now I'm 28 and the reality has set in that porn ruined real life intimate relationships. I've relapsed multiple times the last 2-3 years but as my brain has rewired I'm becoming more and more resilient. It's not easy I still crave it, but my desire to face reality and be the man I respect and admire to be is so much more stronger than getting off on other people's sex lives. Do this for yourself, it's not going to be easy but facing reality and becoming a better man is totally worth it!

I’m on day 43 and it’s brutal right now. A lot of shame, lust, and anxiety. I am feeling better but the 40s have been a battle so far. Stay strong lads.

I was addicted to pornography from the age of 12 or 13 to the age of 25. Stopped watching about 14 months ago. By the 3rd month I was already not even thinking about porn.

The hardest thing I ever had to do in my life: giving up pornography.

I began seeking help to end pornography addiction back in 1970. Unfortunately I was told back then that there was no such addiction and so received no help from religious or secular counseling. I am glad that people now recognize the damage done by this insidious habit. It's been a 50 year habit for me and I am just now seeing a ray of hope in ending this bondage.

It takes time, and that time is variable to whatever your addiction level is, and how brain damaged you are. I’m on day 8 of no porn, no fap, and I’m feeling really clear-headed and more socially confident. I think harder times lay ahead in terms of becoming frustrated or triggered into old habits. I feel like this might be a honeymoon period right now. Time will tell. Im extremely thankful however for all of these videos. And other experts also who provide education and clarity around the issue. It’s very empowering to understand the “why’s” of all of it, as opposed to just the “how’s” and “when’s”. Having gained a better insight into my own trauma from early-age porn exposure has made me feel at peace with myself like never before, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders for the first time in 15 years. So thank you Dr. 👍

Meditation is really powerful for stuff like this. It's exercise for your pre-frontal cortex—put simply. The more you do it the more control you have over yourself and your impulses, making quitting porn or other addictions much more likely.

This makes alot of sense. Many years ago, I've read from various sources, from hypnotherapy, psychology, how habits forms. That it takes about 30-90 days develop a new habit or skill set. And the opposite is true too

Honestly, I retained a lot of energy by giving up pornography. Actually after a week I feel like testosterone is through the roof. Focus and mood are improving as well. Relapses hurt, but stay strong guys! From the beginning I knew that frequently porn use is dangerous but it was stronger then me. Thank you for your videos :)

Dr Trish, I intentionally avoided reading your brain on porn because I wanted to focus on your point - my brain can heal and have that growth mindset. Thank you for being here to offer hope to men like me. ❤ and I want to state I am taking hold of that hope.
