Sorry, but China's 'People's Liberation Army Navy' is not at all comparable to the US Navy. One is regional at best and the other is truly global. One has literal centuries of tradition and real experience, the other has none at all unless you count harassing other countries' fishing boats. One uses copied failed Russian tech, the other leads the world. I could go on.

The PLA spends tons of training time marching in military parades. It takes plenty of practice to goose step with such precision. American soldiers can't march for shit, but they can fight. Americans train for combat not parades

One commenter stated that during WW2, the PLA mostliy hid in the mountains, leaving most of the fighting to the Nationalists.

I had a neighbor from Vietnam who was with Vietnam's army and fought against China. He told me that they just rushed forward and had to shoot until the ammunition ran out

China might have a larger Navy, but they barely venture out more than 500 miles because they don't have the logistics infrastructure. U.S. Navy sails every place on Earth.

China can't "Bring Taiwan back into the fold" because Taiwan was never in the fold to begin with.

A friend of my dad's was in the British contingent in Korea and he fought the Chinese. He was a Bren gunner and said he went through mag after mag and constant barrel changes. He said they came in waves, with each subsequent wave less armed than the previous, relying on picking up weapons from the dead. He said the only thing that stopped them was the fact that they couldn't get past the wall of bodies that built up.

The fact that the PLA commander didn't understand how bad his situation was tells you how incompetent their commanders are.

China doesn't have a larger navy than the US by any real metric. They have more boats than the US, but most of their boats are small, and of questionable quality. If you look at actual tonnage, the US Navy is triple the size of the Chinese Navy.

It is very unfortunate that you completely bought in CCP's propoganda regarding their role in the Sino-Japan War. They did virtually nothing but to offer nominal resistance so that they could strengthen their position in the upcoming civil war once the war against the Japanese was over, let alone play a "pivotal" role.

I would not call the Sino-Vietnamese war a "draw". The Chinese took enormous casualties in the first engagements. To think they could take Hinoi is hilarious.

Dude, Taiwan was only part of China for 4 out of the last 127 years.

"Back to the fold" my ass

You missed the most important point. The PLA was only fighting Vietnamese reserve units and home guard. With the main body of troops went to fight the PLA, they ran back across the border.
That’s why I don’t think they can take Taiwan.

How can you be ranked as the second or third best military and you have basically never used it

A "pivotal role" played by the PLA in the resistance to Japan is a gross overstatement. Most of the fight was done by Nationalists and it was the Americans who defeated Japan. In modern Chinese terminology, the PLA tactics were basically "lying low" and attacking the Nationalists. .

In South Sudan, the true story is that they ran away and abandoned positions.
