The end of EVA where everyone started congratulating Shinji is really nice, actually.

The show is more about Shinji battling his depression than what's going on around him.
It begins with a 15 year old boy who's quite insecure and not fond of company because he's afraid that he might hurt them.

He does not like fighting at all, hence why it took him forever to get in the Mech.
Fast Foward to the end where he finally accepted himself and everyone clapped for him, they're clapping for him because he has finally beaten his depression. He has really accepted himself for who he is. The clear blue sky and the fact that everyone's airborne represents the freedom he's experiencing. Free like bird in a clear blue sky. The burden has fallen off his shoulders.

Really, that ending was amazing.

Due to this show I ended up doing a Philosophy degree at University, I absolutely adore the last 3 episodes every year I watch them around new year eve to see how much I have learned or how I can attack the same problem in different ways
