Getting prod keys from your own modded switch is 100% legal. You have every right to mod something you own and Nintendo can’t take you to court over it. You’ll be violating the terms of service by doing it, but that’s not illegal

obtaining your own prod keys from your modded switch is completely fine. the grey area nintendo is suing yuzu over is how they were able to patch games like ToTK on day one, suggesting that the obtained pirated copies previously in order to release day 1 patches of the games on their emulator. among other things that goes down in their discord

It wasn’t even the company that made the emulator it is the people using it that spread the ROMs and tracking how to use pirated copies

It is 100% not illegal to get your own prod.keys, its your system you can do what you want with it as long as youre not distributing nintendo IP

I thought back in the 90s they already settled this and basically they said emulators are legal they just can't use any code from the company to make the games work

I understand emulators are legal, but it is absolutely wild that an application made for the sole purpose of illegal piracy is allowed to take donations. Selling emulators for consoles still actively for sale is scummy.
