As Gabe Newell once said "Piracy is an issue of service, not price."

This is the same guy that said putting your exclusive games on different consoles was a bad idea.
The circle is complete.

Remember, if buying isn't owning then pirating isn't stealing

"They bring their games to PC!"

Isn't this the same guy who said to Xbox: "You need to keep games exclusive" but then asks Nintendo to put them on PC? Okey. Great logic.

Literally the entire smash franchise is based around the idea of giving either fans or company full control will result in the end of the characters and games we love

I like how he goes right back to being unconvinced and sueing Yuzu

Honestly props to Nintendo for TOTK I only occasionally got frame drops in certain areas, and in BOTW I used to get heavy frame drops in Korok Forest specifically where the Master Sword was but in TOTK I didn't get any frame drops there at all.

They won't. It would be suicide for their console. All of their games could easily play on a cheap laptop. They'd lose so much money as Switch sales are huge for them. Nintendo being the Apple of gaming is their strategy and allowing their stuff to be played on other devices would kill that.

To quote Shrek “Yeah, like that’s ever gonna happen”
(Edit: I was referring to Nintendo putting their games on Steam)

That would demolish their console market. Hell, people are ticked at Sony for not having exclusives anymore.

To be fair, Yuzu essentially leaked Tears of the Kingdom early which was the main reason they got noticed. Not to mention their patreon, which got them money for copyrighted software.

Nintendo didn't sue Yuzu just for being able to emulate their games, they sued Yuzu for explaining how to do it.

Except remember, the people behind this emulator were making people pay for some builds of it, and ripped TOTK before it was released, as well as using Switch code for their emulator. I'm all for emulation for older games or games you own, but it has to be free, and not make money off of the code other people worked on. If they'd lost this case you'd be seeing a LOT of sudden DRM changes that make it impossible to even play a game without internet and 5 accounts.

Multi plat would kill Nintendos quality. Think of this. Nintendo has never once released or launched a broken or buggy game and that is because they have ever only had to design their games around one piece of hardware and perfectly optimize it for it. If Nintendo ever releases games on another platform or on PC then the quality of those games is going to go extremely down And you’re going to see a lot more broken and bugging Nintendo games. Exclusivity is the reason Nintendo games are always so optimized and never buggy

I think people fundamentally misunderstand what emulators are for and that’s why they still support Nintendo. They think you’re supposed to rip roms online and they emulators give you the roms. First emulation companies never give out pirated roms or files. Second emulators are for preservation, consoles have an end of life, CDs are terrible for long term preservation, PS3s are ticking time bombs and eventually we won’t be able to play those games anymore. The ability to take game data off of games you own and playing them on emulators ensures that no matter how far companies go with planned obsolescence we can still preserve these games for the newer generation.
