We own that generation CR-V. Our 2007 has 120k miles. Last week before taking it on a long road-trip, I changed the oil to full synthetic 5W20 and changed the spark plugs with factory Densos. Took about 20 minutes to do both. While on the trip I was amazed that our average MPG increased from 24.3 MPG to 28.5 even driving it 75 MPH. I'm happy with it.

Because of your advice, a few months ago I bought a 2015 Honda Pilot with 215, 000 miles on it. It has a 6 cylinder engine that's had 49 oil changes and at 200, 000 miles the timing belt had been changed. It's got the highest trim package and it looks cherry. Without watching your channel I would never even have considered buying it. I love this car. It replaced a Honda CRV that was totalled by a little old lady going through a stop. And I was able to pocket $6600.00 due to the difference in value because the Pilot had so many miles on it.. Thank you Scotty.

I’m still happy with my 2005 Toyota RAV4.

A friend of mine had a first generation CR-V from the 90s with over 400k miles on it, which was impressive. I picked up a 2006 CR-V in January with 160k miles on it. The two previous owners maintained it perfectly. It drives like it’s only a couple of years old. Zero rust California car. First Honda I’ve ever owned and I’m impressed. I’m looking at picking up another one.

I am also glad my Mazda has the old style plug to drain the transmission. My 07 Mazda with 139k still shifts smoothly with the basic maintenance like that.

I had a 2001 Honda CR-V, it had over 300, 000 miles on it and was still running good. The only reason I got rid of it is because it got in an accident and wasn't cost effective to save. Best vehicle ever

The 2.4 VTEC engines will run forever. I always used synthetic oil and high octane gas. Never any issues.

I have a 2007 Honda CRV 2WD. It has over 200K miles and have owned for 10 years. I also had to replace the A/C compressor. Other than minors repairs it’s been the best car I have ever owned.

Here is my $0.02 - my family has owned the following:

88 Toyota Tercel - blew head gasket at 70K
88 Toyota 4runner - rusted out at 140k
06 Toyota Corolla - rusted out at 200K
07 Toyota RAV4 - threw rod at 50K
08 Toyota Yaris - rusted out at 190K

2004 Honda Element - still going at 140K
2004 Honda CRV - caught fire due to hungry squirrels 120K
2005 Honda Element - still going at 210K
2008 Honda Odyssey - still going at 140K
2012 Honda CRV - still going 120K

0/5 toyotas remain while 4/5 of my hondas remain.
All vehicles were regularly maintained by the same mechanic as well as undercoated.

I would take the Hondas over the Toyotas any day. They are better made and last way longer.

Picked up a '07 awd Honda crv for my kid after he wrecked an '06 jeep gc awd 8cyl. The Honda is slightly smaller, but superior in just about every way. It's a 4 banger, sure but the only thing my kid is hauling is his own a**. It has more pep, (much lighter) better gas mileage by far, has been much more reliable even though it had about 160k mi when I bought it, and regular maintenance items are a snap. I guess I'm just mad at myself for not considering Hondas and toyotas sooner, and my son says he loves the honda. he liked the jeep- but we were always chasing gremlins in that thing. When the time comes- I may even consider a crv for myself. Thanks Scotty!

I see Toyota late on their payment again...

My 2009 CRV has 250K (original owner). Changed oil every 5-7K religiously. You’ll rarely see a Honda on the side of the road, let alone a CRV. Beats a 1K / month car payment.

2006 AWD Honda Pilot with 260k and running great. Friends have over 400k on theirs and running great. Minimal maintenance and still getting 22mpg just like when I bought it new.
