Been watching for awhile now, appreciate your no nonsense approach, reminds me of my dad.
He was an airplane mechanic on an aircraft carrier late forties. He then switched to autos, because they were switching to jets after the service.
I was born in Houston Texas in Harris county in 60, but grew up in Northeast Ohio, helping my dad work on Corvairs, valve jobs or oil leaks, adjusting the carbs or just tuneups. He worked on Pontiac’s in the sixties at a dealership, then on to chevy dealership, but worked on anything at home on the side, so I had a decent education on old school auto repair.
You bring back a lot of memories of working with my dad...

Thx for your honesty and humor, the industry needs a lot of both these days!

When my (recalled) Accord transmission died out of warranty, my dealer laughed at me when I asked for compensation. The manager said that I didn't deserve help because I got my oil changes somewhere else. Then I called Honda corporate and they paid for 60% of the repair.

asking for some advice for my first car, I'm 19, have 8k ready for a downpayment, and looking at the following
-2013 Honda Accord Sport with a manual transmission with 103, 813 miles and is going for $10, 999
- 2014 Honda Accord EX with an auto with 123, 400 miles and is going for $8, 999
-2014 Honda Accord Sport with auto with 91, 175 miles and is going for $10, 995 (it has 7 owners which is sus)
-2016 Honda Civic LX with a manual transmission with 75, 155 miles and is going for $12, 113 (1 accident not airbags deployed)
looking for something fun to drive since I'm pretty young and but also reliable.

The 0w16 motor oil has been on the market in Japan for over 20 years . It was designed for hybide vehicles for maximum fuel efficiency . It does not in any way, help an engine, or solve the problem of oil dilution . Personally I would use thicker oil, say your engine calls for a 0w20, I would use a 0w30 motor oil . It will be beneficial for the engine . Use high quality full synthetic motor oil and a high quality synthetic cartridge oil filter . Change the oil every 3 000 to 4 000 miles .

I learned about the oil dilution on my 2018 Civic Sport from Scotty. Checked the oil, and sure enough, strong gas smell. Took it to the dealer and of course they played dumb. I decided to sell it. Thanks Scotty.
