As aid has slowed to a trickle, Ukrainians have been forced to improvise to keep their frontline troops supplied. DW’s Nick Connolly takes a look at how they're coping in this exclusive report from a Ukrainian military facility.

These desperate measures are underway as lawmakers in the US have approved a bill providing almost 61 billion dollars worth of aid and military support to Ukraine. The package had been delayed for months due to cross-party wrangling. Democrats joined forces with some moderate Republican lawmakers to push the bill through, though the majority of Republicans voted against it.

It's less than 8% of our military budget, but it technically replaces older munitions that are going to be destroyed due to shelf life. And yes, we have to pay a exorbant amount to dispose of those weapons, possibly 1/2 the cost of what we are giving to ukraine. So in one way, we are saving the cost of disposal by letting ukraine dispose of them on the front lines.

Makes me laugh that most of the money is actually staying in America, America done exactly the same in ww2 with Britain!

Why do I feel like Nick has aged about 15 years more since the beginning of his report of this war... 😓

They fight for you, they're dying for you, so you don't have to, and yet you neglected them and treated them just like a cannon fodder

I can remember when the Ukrainians were talked into giving up their nuclear weapons with the promise that the West would protect them from future Russian aggression.

Imagine if Scholz in Germany stopped pandering to his friend Putin right now, then allowed Germany to send its Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Never mind bagging the US for its months long stalled military support when Scholz constantly refuses to give Ukraine the vaunted Taurus long range weapons which Ukraine would benefit from immensely.

See, they show us how to be an environmental role model. Nice recycling, low carbon footprint, and no overpopulation. 👍

the cost of weapons and money that has already been provided to ukraine are practically more than all the money and cost of weapons used by the allied forces to defeat germany, japan and italy
