I went to my dad when I was 4 years old and told him I wanted him to quit smoking because I wanted him to live forever. He threw his pack away right then and had me tape those patches on him everyday till one day he said forget the patches and its been almost 30 years since he's smoked

I smoked for 14 years and failed at quitting so many times, never made it past 3 months. Until I got pregnant. My husband quit with me which was so helpful. After I stopped breastfeeding our baby I began to smoke again. At first just one or two slips but then I was back to buying my own packs again. About 4 months later my husband asked me to quit again. I knew it was the right thing to do for myself and for my family. It’s been almost 5 years now and I only think about cigarettes when I’ve had a few drinks. I’m grateful my husband was strong enough for the both of us and never went back to the nasty habit when I did. I feel I wouldn’t have been strong enough to kick the habit for myself, but knowing I’m doing it for them is what kept me strong. I hope everyone out there looking for their “why” finds one. I used to think the cigarettes calmed me down, but actually I’m a lot calmer without them.

I quit 8 days ago and am so pleased. Praying I don’t go back. My “why” is because I’m doing lots of other things to improve my health and it just doesn’t make sense to smoke! It’s such a stinky habit that’s doing nothing for me!

It's so important on finding why you want to quit. I quit for four years then went back to smoking like an idiot but life happens right. I've decided my reason for quitting is to prove to myself that I can do it. It takes up way too much of my time and I am tired of being out of breath and wheezing at night. Also the money I will save is a huge factor...I'm only 2 days smoke free but it's a start. Wishing everyone luck out there trying to quit, you can do it! 🙏❤️☺️

I’ve known many with cancer who continued to smoke, those who take their O2 off to smoke. It’s a powerful addition for some including myself . My Wife was told if she didn’t quit she would possibly have a stroke, after 25 years of almost 2 packs per day, it was like a light switch went off, never smoked again, I never heard a complaint, was a amazing thing to witness . She’s thankfully been quit for 7 years. My lung doctor told me many times to quit, I’ve read all the books, hypnosis, videos ect I’ve tried patches, gum, candy. Ear magnets lol. My mindset isn’t there and scare tactics don’t work for everyone. I may read Carrs book again and take it in vs rushing through it. Im I’m going to do this one way or another

I've quit smoking 3 years ago. My 'why' was the time. I've counted how many hours I spent for this and it was strong enough argument to quit. I hope this information can help someone.

Smoking takes away the stress, but from the stress of the cravings that come with smoking. It sucks, it calms the cravings down.

22 years heavy smoker, quit for 85 days today. very difficult. i think the key is to 'get prepared for boredom'. the first few days i felt absolute boredom, nothing to do, what to do now?, something is terribly missing, always want a cigarette, dont want to get up, and life is very meaningless.
to be ready to live in this boredom was my biggest helper i believe. it is a war and the weapon that is fighting you and attacking you every day is 'boredom'. you need to be prepared for it, and you wont be able to destroy it, just be ready to face it every day and do not say i give up. it will keep coming every minute probably. no problem, just stand your ground.

I love how these steps can be applied to other 'addictions' in life. Awesome!

Very good tips, The nicotine addiction only lasts 3-4 days, but the “a psychological” addiction is my problem. I am gearing for my 4Th quit, I tell myself I can save $2000 a year for my grandson and give him $ 20, 000 in ten years if I don’t spend on cigarettes. 1/2 pack a day is $5.50, it’s such a waste. My mom was the heaviest smoker I’ve known, always had one burning and she quit cold turkey, if she could do it, anyone can.

I am now almost 50 year and Iam being smoking since teenager. I have quit smoking. Don’t make it a big things in mind. No drama simply reduce the smoking to 1 or 2 cigarettes per day, then 1 cigarette for 2 days and suddenly stop it all. That all . Live around the person who support and make you feel happy for 1 months.

I have found that taking a smoke break without smoking helps! I have replaced the cigarette with several minutes of deep breaths wherever I used to smoke which for me was outside or in the garage.

If I'm happy I smoke, if I'm bored I smoke, if I'm depress I smoke, if I'm excited I smoke, if I take a break and don't smoke I feel bored, when I smoke I'm aware that I am harming myself in a long term, i smoke even when I'm playing sports, so how in the hell I'm supposed to quit smoking????

Plan for relapse? I quit smoking two weeks ago and fighting tooth and nail not to relapse. I don't EVER want to smoke again. I don't want to relapse. I want to be a NON SMOKER. This video was doing fine until he said that. It plants a seed in an addicts mind to justify using again. I will keep watching another person's videos because she has helped me with her wonderful advice.

If you smoke because of stress, then explain to me how smoking gives you happiness. IT DOESN'T! But I tell you what, if you are stressed, pour happiness into your brain...like eating a chocolate or doing something you like anything happy. It will trigger your brain to become more happy and less stressed

Already 4 weeks cigarettes free
I have used electric cigarette for quitting
1st week 18 mg nicotine capsules
2nd week 12 mg nicotine capsules
3rd week 9 mg
4th week 2.5 mg nicotine capsules mixing with 0 mg nicotine capsules
Now week 5 only 0 mg nicotine capsules
Next week ( 6th ) I am going to even stop electric cigarette
I think this is the best way for quitting
Because I have smoked for 16 years and tried many times to quit but never made it more than 2 days
But now I am feeling great better than what I have expected.

I need a knee replacement, the pain is excruciating! The surgeon will not do it if i’m smoking. It’s enough for me. It took severe physical pain for me to quit. Im 51 and started smoking at 12. Almost my entire life.My lungs sure do need the relief. Boredom is the biggest issue for me.
