Issues with HDMI ARC are extremely common and very difficult to solve sometimes. The most common issues presented with HDMI ARC are:
1) The video and audio are out of sync.
2) The audio was working at one point but is no longer working.
3) Volume controls no longer work with your TV or media remote.

There are many different solutions for these sorts of issues, but no exact solution for each issue. This video covers many different solutions for basically any HDMI ARC issue that you might encounter.

I love that HDMI was originally sold to the public as a way to solve the issue of connecting a bunch of audio cables (I won't count the DRM features) but introduced harder to troubleshoot problems than existed before.

The reason that unplugging works is because many devices don't turn all the way off. They go into standby mode, so "powering off" doesn't have the desired effect when trying to solve a problem. Unplugging from power long enough to allow all the capacitors in the device to discharge will do a full power off.

I've just recently re installed my home theater after 11 years😳 so this is helpful information, I'm updating my tv from 40" to 65" and my old JVC receiver as well. I'll be following your channel for more helpful information. Thx. again.

This video helped resolved my persistent issue in a matter of seconds. I called the Bose support team and none of their recommendations resolved the sound issue. They suggested that I return the soundbar and pay a repair fee, which was inconvenient. Before embarking on their suggestion, I watched your video and my Bose soundbar 900 is functioning perfectly. Thank you and I hope this helps other people resolve their soundbar dilemmas.

Thanks Jonah. A very helpful video. I have a CX myself and, apart from an occasional sound sync issue with my Sony amp, all connections work well. However, I’ve got one annoying regular problem that I can’t seem to resolve. If I switch the amp to the TV input so that it uses the eArc-enabled CX port, I always have to go into the tv sound settings and reset it to use the eArc sound output as, for no obvious reason, the CX has always set itself back to ‘internal speaker’ since I last used the input. It’s easy enough to switch back but annoying to have to do every time.

Thank you for this video! I have had a lot of issues with Earc on my Hisense TV. Yesterday the Earc stopped working as the audio output, and the TV would only stay on TV speakers. I tried everything. I came to this video and tried your solution of unplugging the power, hdmi's, and then plugging in the hdmi's and the power. This solved my problem. Thank you!

Thank you so much for making this video! My Sonos Arc would no longer connect to my LG TV after a power outage. I tried to reconnect unsuccessfully for about an hour and gave up. I even ordered new HDMI cables. I was worried that the HDMI connections were damaged from the power surge and that I might have to replace either the TV or the Sonos arc. Both are obviously very expensive items. After watching your video, I simply disconnected every single cable and wire and left them that way for an entire night. In the morning, I reconnected all the wires and miraculously the sound just reconnected. Perhaps the length of time helped the TV reset itself . I am incredibly relieved! I now have the power cables connected to a surge protector. Not sure why I never thought that was important prior. Thanks again!

I found that changing the channel for a few seconds and then going back the original channel makes the sound sync back up
So far works every time and is very simple
Thanks

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH, I was going crazy trying to figure out why my ARC all of the sudden stopped working. One of your solutions immediately fixed the issue (passthrough setting)

After racking my brain for the last 24 hours, this video helped my find the solution. It was simply plugging the TV off the main power and disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMIs lol thank you so much for the video. It narrowed the solutions down for me. Lifesaver 🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Watched a bunch of videos before this and the hard reset worked great. Thanks Jonah

Nice one! I have also a LG OLED TV, but connected to a Yamaha AVR (RX-V685). Currently all is connected to the AVR but I'll give the ARC variant a try. Sometimes switching between inputs has some hickups (f.e. no input signal at all). Maybe my LG TV can do that better... 😜
Sidenote: eARC needs compatible cables, you basically have to use HDMI 2.1 cables that can transport 40 Gbps (4K/120 and 8K/60). ✌

Have this worked for me when 5 other videos did not. Specifically the pass through section. Thank you!

Thanks for the video man, my sound bar stopped working this morning before leaving for work and I couldn’t figure it out, unplugging and plugging hdmi back into my sound bar would work for about a second and then silence again and Bluetooth worked fine

Doing your “hdmi reset” did the job though and everything’s working again, had this setup for almost a year and zero issues until now
