Or they just start to threaten your well-being and ability to survive outside of work, then increase the bullying while involving more employees to do the managers bidding to make it so unbearable to exist there that you just quit.

Yes, I am being bullied in my workplace. Bullying started in my mid 40s. I eventually changed jobs and all was well for several years until a new young supervisor was employed.
After her first year of settling in, she gave my hell.
I’ve applied for other jobs but didn’t get them. Now I’m in my 60s. It does impact my mental health and I’ve needed to consult a counsellor.

Usually what employers do is join the bullies, and fire the target out the door, this is what happens in North America where there is still is no real laws to stoop this people from destroying your career. Most of these people are high narcissists and sociopaths people who lack empathy and are well practiced liars and Conn artists conning managers and bosses into believing that the target is the trouble maker the target isn't following orders, the target isn't doing the job. While most of the time this is completely bogus. Bullies love to harrass people they throughly enjoy it.

Most of the bullies are working in unison with others who are also secretly participating with them to provide information about you and so such people can help the bully to further attack you.

Getting you fired is the goal.
