Most athletics shoes these days have toe spring. This means that the shoes angle up from the ball of the foot to the tips of the toes. This puts the foot in an unnatural position and can lead to hammertoes and other foot ailments.

In this video, Dr. Ray McClanahan discusses the harmful impacts of toe spring and let's us know why this is a feature you may want to skip when you buy your next pair of athletics shoes.

What is tremendously frustrating is that ALL of the shoe companies are making their sports shoes like this.

Thanks for this, Sir. For years I didn't know toe spring was troublesome. Now I shall only select shoes with the least degree of toe spring in them - perhaps if I get one with no toe spring at all then I shall select that.

is the inside sole curves up or is it just the outside cushioning?

Although these information is very convincing imo, what I've never understood is why literally all big brands add these kind of things to their design. Is there any convincing reason?

I literally can’t stand shoes that have the toe spring like that it bothers me to know end

Can't really agree on that, since I have realised that in standard shoes I quite often noticed that I instinctively pulled my toes up and it felt much better while walking/running. That was before I ever tried those toe spring/ rocker trainers.
