The fact that shoes are not foot-shaped is so weird to me. Imagine if they made gloves that were not hand-shaped...how weird would those be?

Earth shoes from the 70s were foot shaped shoes. They were practically the only shoe that I could find to fit back then and wish they still made those styles today. My mother knew I was going to have problems when they couldn’t find shoes to fit me when I was 5. My brother used to say I had flippers for feet, but I actually was a great swimmer!

I need both. Every shoe manufacturer that produces “barefoot” shoes says that they are wide. However, they are only wide at the toe box. That is great, but that doesn’t mean a person with a wide foot will magically fit into the shoe well. The rest of the shoe is still too narrow. They all respond with, “it stretches”. Great…but I would like to walk around with a solid footing and not supinate out of the shoe. They need to make shoes that fit the splay of a natural foot and offer those shoes in wide sizes as well. Hopefully one day.

Problem with barefoot shoes is that most are crazy expensive or look stupid. I wish it was a law to create shoes with normal foot shapes.

I have tried telling this too so many people who have "fitted" my shoes before and they kept giving me regular wide shoes and they were still too small. This makes soo much sense!!! Thanks for the explanation!

The fact that we managed to collectevely change the shape of our feet then think that s the normal shape is mind blowing 😂.

It's fucking wild that all shoes aren't foot shaped. You'd think that being made to wear on your foot, that would be a given

This makes me feel a lot better because sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind when trying to find shoes that fit, and I have admittedly cried a few times because it’s stressful when I’m down to my last pair of shoes and going and trying on new shoes just hurts because they’re crunching my toes in and it’s painful. I’m glad that now I can understand it’s a design choice issue and not something inherently wrong with my feet.

My problem has always been that the middle part of my foot is squeezed to death by every shoe I try. And it'll be like that across ALL SIZES.
