Thin Lizzy are from Ireland. The band was founded in Dublin Ireland in 1969.

Great tune, definitely a rocking Irish band, R.I.P. Phil Lynott

Thin Lizzy - one of my personal favorites. Highly recommend “Cowboy Song, ” “Emerald, ” and “The Rocker”. Wonderful and blistering guitars. And of course the great Phil Lynott.

Thin Lizzy is criminally underrated. You should check out "Cold Sweat", "The Sun Goes Down", "Killer on the Loose", or "Chinatown".

Thin Lizzy are so epic a band, great reaction. 'Whiskey in the jar' is a must but also two songs that Phil Lynott did with Gary Moore that you need to check out are the very rocking 'Out in the Fields' and for a completely different twist 'Parisienne Walkways'.
Gary Moore was part of Thin Lizzy for a very brief stint in their early days so these songs were sort of reunions.

Saw them live in the 1970s. They were amazing. You should try their version of the traditional Irish song 'Whisky in the Jar'.

Sadly the ship has sailed on seeing Thin Lizzy live as Phil passed away in 1986, he is so highly thought of here in his native Dublin we have a statue to him just of the main shopping street Grafton St. You like guitar riffs so you should listen to "Whiskey in The Jar" a rock take on an Irish ballad.

My favorite part of this song is what a comedian pointed out: “Tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in the town…” uh, I’m gonna guess at the jail? LOL great song and album. Check out Angel from the Coast, my favorite.

Love Thin Lizzy, love Phil Lynott. They are Irish and I took a trip to Ireland last October. Did a lot of sightseeing around the whole island (it's not huge, about the same land area as Iowa) and wasn't thinking about the band when setting up the trip. But saw two very cool things - [1] Slane Castle is a place where some very big concerts have taken place, there are videos online, but Thin Lizzy was the first to headline there in 1981, being the local boys; [2] there are a lot of statues around Dublin of various historical figures and celebrities and I never knew this or that there is one of Phil. So I got two happy surprises to cap off an all around great trip!

You gotta do the Cowboy Song next. I suggest the studio version on that one so you can hear all the subtle guitar work in the mix.

You guys should react to "Whiskey in the Jar" next. Then try his duet with Gary Moore "Out in the Fields" which will take you to "Parisienne Walkways" by Gary Moore. Enjoy the journey. Much love from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

OK brief history of Thin Lizzy - Band was formed in Ireland by vocalist/bassist Phil Lynott, whose mother was Irish & father Guianese, in the late 60's... Legendary Irish guitarist Gary Moore was a friend and helped the band occasionally (he recorded 1 Thin Lizzy album w/ them - 'Black rose')
Brian Downey (drums) and Eric Bell (guitar) were the band, when they debuted in 1971... The name Thin Lizzy came from a comic strip in the UK titled 'Tin Lizzy'. Eric Bell left the band and was replaced by 2 lead guitarists - Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham (who is American) and together w/ Phil Lynott and Brian Downey recorded the biggest Thin Lizzy albums in the 70's. Their twin-lead guitar sound became a trademark and inspired a plethora of rock & metal bands, including Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Scorpions, etc...
'Jailbreak' was their big hit in 1976 in the US after a string of records in the UK and Europe... However, w/ success came excess, and both Phil Lynott and Scott Gorham got into heroin abuse... Thin Lizzy's live album 'Live & dangerous' from 1978 is considered one of the best live records in rock history... Unfortunately, guitarist Brian Robertson found himself out of the band by the late 70's. Gary Moore filled in for a bit, then other guitar players came in... but by 1981, Thin Lizzy was not selling records anymore.
Guitarist John Sykes joined Thin Lizzy and recorded one of their best albums 'Thunder & lightning' in 1983, but exhausted by drug abuse and professional problems, Thin Lizzy opted to end in 1984 after a final tour.

In 1986, Phil Lynott died from organ failure after years of heroin abuse.
Former members of Thin Lizzy (Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, John Sykes) resurrected the band to tour w/ various session musicians... they recorded new music as Black Star Riders recently, but Thin Lizzy's music remains the Phil Lynott era.
Former guitarist Gary Moore passed away in 2010 from heart failure. He also left a stellar catalog of solo music.

Another Irish rocker/blues man you NEED to check out, is Rory Gallagher.
One of the greatest guitar players who ever lived!
Check out “Bad penny, Tattooed lady, Bullfrog blues, Souped up Ford” & many many more.
