Phil Lynott the lead singer was once asked "what's it like to be black and Irish" and he said "Like a pint of Guinness" pure genius.

One of the guitarists for Thin Lizzy was Gary Moore. He went off on his own for a solo career. You should give his song "Still Got the Blues" a try. His guitar solo is what really kills it... He really makes the guitar cry... Try and get a live version if you can. Another great one by him is "Empty Rooms"

At a gig in England, Phil asked “ any ladies got any Irish in them?” which got a great reaction ..
then he asked “ would any ladies like some more Irish in them?” .. place erupted.

Phil Lynott was a complete legend. He is missed very much in the UK and Ireland. R.I.P.

It's hard to imagine that some people have never heard this before. Bands don't kick ass like this anymore.

Back in the late seventies we danced like crazy to this! At 67 years old, my knees are screaming “NOOOO”.

"Whiskey in the Jar, " "Cowboy Song, " and "Dancin' in the Moonlight" would also be good choices from this band. One thing they are famous for is that twin guitar sound.

The lead vocals and bass player was late Phil Lynott, a young, black Irishman who made a great impact on the music world. His death at the age of 36 was a tremendous loss for the industry.

Thin Lizzy were epic - such a shame that Phil Lynott died young: they would have been one of the biggest bands in the world, no question. I love his singing: the smokey tone and the 'lazy' timing, where he comes in slighty behind the beat are so engaging. Loads of good suggestions below, but one I haven't seen is my favorite, Don't Believe A Word. You can't really go wrong with Thin Lizzy. Loads of artists have covered their stuff too. Check out Sade's cover of Still In Love With You for a gorgeous, very different take on the original. Alas, there's no good quality video for it so you're best off with the audio-only version.

The band out of Ireland that really hit pretty big. The song used to get played on the radio constantly.

Thin Lizzy is probably the most criminally underrated rock band in history.

Geddy Lee, the lead singer for Rush, is a bass player, so you have heard another lead singer who plays the bass. Did you know that Rush was inspired by the band "Yes" and even inducted them into the R&R Hall of Fame? Please, play some Yes. They have so many great songs. "Roundabout" would be a great place to start.

The late Phil Lynott (vocals and bass) with his gaelic soul and the twin guitar by Scott and Brian, so good. Coincidentally this song comes out in Detroit Rock City (which I sent) one of the movies you unboxed today.

RIP Phil Lynott. The boys were back in town...and the town was DUBLIN, Republic of Ireland.

Paul McCartney also is a bass player and lead singer. He is considered one of the best but he is very humble about it. He plays many instruments.

Outside of radio play, I know this song was in the movie "A Knight's Tale" along with a bunch of great 70's songs.

My absolute favorite Band. This isn't even their best song. They have incredible songs and Phil Lynott was such an amazing song writer and loved the double guitar attack. So so great.

Great song. "Jailbreak" is another great one by TL. So is "Whiskey in the Jar" (which was covered by Metallica!).
