Using Putins own historical logic, Kaliningrad, aka Königsberg, should be "returned" to Germany

11:46 – There are no tensions between Poland and Lithuania. There existed tensions before ww2, because both countires claimed Vilnius (capital of Lithuania) as own city. But nowadays Polish Lithuanian relationship are almost as good as they were during the best periods of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. News about these tensions sound like a bullsh*t.

Correction: Kaliningrad isn't the only ice-free port in the Baltic Sea. It's the only RUSSIAN ice-free port. The Latvian ports of Liepāja and Ventspils are ice-free all year, too.

Wouldn't it be funny if the people of Kaliningrad decided to hold a referendum similar to the ones in Donetsk and Luhansk 😆

The road network runs from Poland north east into Lithuania, and not from Kaliningrad to Belarus in the Suwalki gap. Russian logistics could not supply an invasion in this area. The road network is so poor near the gap that Russia would struggle to move troops to the gap, never mind attack it. HIMARS would have a field day.

We, the Czech people, want our Baltic port back! :)

How long ago was this made? It’s well out of date…

Pretty sure Finland and Sweden have altered the significance of this gap.

Like stated early in the video, The Baltic Sea is now a NATO sea therefore The Eastern NATO nations would still be resupplied by sea fairly unhindered.

Plus, Konigsberg sounds a lot more tourist friendly than Kaliningrad.

The name "Kaliningrad" comes from a terrible character, Mikhail Kalinin. This was a man who was very close to Stalin and who took part in issuing orders to murder thousands of war prisoners by shooting them in the back of the head.

That Gap between Kaliningrad and Belarus is irrelevant..
Nato would completely dominate the Baltic sea and be able to support Lithuania and Latvia from Sea, and Kaliningrad would fall pretty quickly.

Kaliningrad is called Königsberg in Swedish. Sweden is monitoring the activity closely in the Region. Especially Pillau (Baltiysk) naval Base is a threat to Gotland.

With or without Kaliningrad, there’s no place on the globe outside of the reach of Russian or American nuclear arms. It’s an odd statement to make or assume that a single territory within either realm is key to any nuclear strike.

As a german I think a sort of "internationally governed zone" within the EU, cogoverned by Poland and Lithuania could be a great idea towards setteling the issues and strenghtening european union. Thanks to Schengen & Work/settlement rights, the citizens of all EU countries can travel, visit, work and live there anyway.

It's called Königsberg. Otherwise not too bad of a summary.

Some serious mistake here: there is no tensions between Poland and Lithuania over any territory at or near Suwalki gap. Both Poland and Lithuania recognize current border and have no claims to other side.

19:58 - These are far from the first times the russian's have made incursions, violating Swedish territory. We all remember the 1981 _"Whisky on the Rocks"_ incident when a russian Whisky-class submarine ran aground on a rocky island deep inside a Swedish fiord, inside restricted military area and only a few kms from Sweden's most important naval base. The russians claimed they'd made a "navigation error", and that the constant "beeps" on Swedish Geiger counters came from their wrist watches. _Oh, those russians!_ 🙄
