Why some people don’t get COVID despite being in the same household

Has someone in your house got COVID but you’ve managed not to catch the highly contagious virus? There’s a few reasons for that.

so far, neither me nor my husband have gotten covid. Yes, we are fully vaccinated and we simply followed CDC guidelines from day 1. I guess it works. Today, 2 years after covid started, we have not gotten infected. Now, all my kids (3) have had it. They've been around us. We just mitigated the simple guidelines. 2 of my kids are vaccinated. 1 refuses. Even my grandson had it and were around us, but we never got sick. Thank God! We have traveled outside the US, around the US and I guess we have been careful enough. I work in the medical field and we had to wear masks at the beginning. Going on year 2, the state (tx) lifted all mandates, but hospitals still followed cdc guidelines. Recently at work, we were told only to wear the mask if working directly with patients. (I don't). Thankfully, my husband works from home. I'm thankful we haven't gotten sick to this day.

My ex got COVID when our kids were with him. Kids are vaccinated and had just received the booster shot a few weeks prior. They all quarantined for the recommended amount of time but my daughters never got COVID.

t’s weird my husband has covid. I’m not that distanced from him yet not catching it,

Although I frequently have colds and he never catches it from me. It feels weird that the tables turned here lol, but I read a immune system that’s had more exposure to the cold virus is likely able to resist a covid infection. So I guess I have to thank the common cold lol. I also think I got covid at the beginning of the pandemic, with complete loss of smell for 2 weeks followed by 18 months of distorted smell and taste. When I first got it the UK didn’t accept loss of smell as an official symptom so I never got tested.
