Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths. The most common cancers are breast, lung, colon and rectum and prostate cancers.
Certain lifestyle choices are known to increase your risk of cancer. Smoking, drinking more than one drink a day for women and up to two drinks a day for men, excessive exposure to the sun or frequent blistering sunburns, being obese, and having unsafe sex can contribute to cancer.

This is probably one of the most important and significant public announcements and what this medium should be for. Well done.

Your speech is an eye opener. It means there is no escape.

Dear Doctor Mike: You have a great speaking voice which is clear and easily understandable. As you see from the comments, many fans find the unusual style and presentation of the subtitles quite annoying. Given the quality of your speech, maybe scrap captions.

Doctor Hansen: You might do a video on epigenetics. Some 40 years ago, my holistic MD told me to drink green tea throughout the day, and eat a predominantly plant based diet. He explained epigenetics.. the expression or suppression of genes, and the methods by which we can attempt to control our genetics. So far, at 77, I am still in good health, 99% vegan and still drink 6 cups of green tea a day. Thanks for your videos.

Wow .. my grandfather always said sugar was poison, and I don't think that he understood how on the nose he was. Irony is he didn't eat a high processed diet, rather was exposed to second hand smoke and ended up dying of pancreatic cancer. At least that is the most likely case as my grandmother drank and smoke until she couldn't. He did at a much younger age, but quit. (He did live until his early 80s, at the very least, but losing anyone you love to pancreatic cancer is devastating... He was active until he was sick, and hearing his fast deterioration was heartbreaking...)

Thank you to this channel for being so informative and helping me better understand common causes as cancer has hit a few times and is always a concern. Many, many thanks.

Avoid sugar. Eat in 8 hours window and 16 hours fast. If possible do one day fasting every month. Don't eat excess, . Eat less carbs, enough protein and enough fats. It will solve all health problems.

The yellow flashing pop-up text is far too distracting. They are fine if they are displayed, but not popping up as in this video.

I had none of these contributing factors. I think that exposure to pollution in general may have had an even greater effect. . .

Bottom line is 1 out of 3 people develop cancer in their lives. The longer that you live the more your chances increase that you may eventually develop cancer. It is usually on at least one side of the family if not both. So many things can cause cancer and odds are that you will never know what caused the cancer. Be prudent but don't forget to live your life.

No mention of psychiatric stress, social stress, and other DSM factors.

I have auditory processing disorder, so I love that this video has subtitles. Keep the subtitles in future videos if you can. Very informative stuff!

Amazing how things go around; my father died from colon cancer (diagnosed @ 40years old) and I always heard that increased my chances of having it too and that I should start screening from 10 years prior to his diagnosis; I didn’t do that… but by the time I went, I was told a parents diagnosis and death form colon cancer was generally no longer regarded as a risk factor the children…. So there you go
