Hi Bojan, the Rapture was popularized in US through W.C. Scoffields refence bible. This is the defacro ref bible pushed in protestant seminary. He has a murky background. He was a Confederate soldier who went AWOL but ran political campaign as a Confederate hero; practiced law and became a self proclaimed theologian. Miraculously, his reference Bible was cough cough financed in NYC by Samuel Untumeyer even though he had no prior publication or accredidations. Hello from Tennessee.

I'm not even Orthodox, but I cannot justify the doctrine of the rapture. It doesn't make any sense on multiple levels, and there's no reason why the verse used to 'back it up' could be reasonably interpreted in this way.

I'm not Orthodox (although I'm considering it) and after seeing some responses from people concerning the rapture, I think that it is honestly a misreading of Revelation. This is why I never touch Revelation to be honest, way too confusing for me. All I know is that Christ is risen and He will come back one day to do what He said He would.

Saint Ephraim the Syrian wrote at length about his belief in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture. That was in the 300’sAD. So yes the early Church did believe in a Pretrib Rapture. Although rapture in general is a new concept, pre-trib is the most ridiculous version of it as it occurs in revelations well after the tribulation starts and the argument that "God wouldn't let his church suffer" could only be made by a modern, western Christian without being completely laughed at by Christians from any other time or geography. Does no one remember Nero?
