I turned 65 in March, and later in life, I left the evangelical Protestantism of my birth, converted to Orthodoxy, and never looked back. Orthodoxy is not for the faint of heart or for the church hopper (grew up like this). I love the church.

I went to my first Orthodox service last week. I felt a deep connection and reverence to God. I have decided that I will pursue conversion.

I was baptized last month on Holy Saturday. Joining the Church is truly a transformative experience. I am such a different man than I was a year ago when I became a catechumen, and yet I still have so far to go.

Traditional Latin Mass Catholic, after attending the Byzantine Catholic church for nearly 2 years, I felt pulled to the Orthodox church. Currently attending an Orthodox church and I plan to convert to the Orthodox faith.

"[...] Orthodoxy brings us back to the Poem." Absolutely brilliant.

Great video. I was born into Orthodox Christianity as an Armenian. I feel a strong connection to not only my culture but to the church. When my mom was sick in hospital and the priest came to the hospital and blessed her. My mom is now at home doing well so we are so grateful we have our church’s faith.

My journey to orthodoxy began 27 years ago. It has been a long process, out of Protestantism and a deep sense of dissatisfaction with what many churches are offering today. I longed for a place of worship where God was worshipped in reverence and awe, for His own sake, not with a cup of coffee in one hand and your feet up on the altar rail. Where Jesus Christ is truly Lord such that His life truly impacts my life. Having sifted through many of my own arguments I conclude that the little Orthodox Church 6 miles from me (there are very, very few here in England - so I am blessed) is where I can at last rest my hungry spirit and bow my head in worship of Jesus Christ with a sense of wonder, joy, reality and mystery. The orthodox faithful who meet there come mainly from Greece and Eastern Europe but, thanks be to God, also my own English countrymen. One thing I notice, though, that might be an issue - it sometimes looks as if it is orthodoxy itself that is worshipped, rather than Christ Himself! So much chat about “orthodox this” and “orthodox that” - a focus upon orthodoxy rather than (as it appears to me) Christ Himself and living for Him. I may be entirely wrong. I hope I am. But it is a danger.
Finally I should add what an intense blessing it is for me to have such a godly monk as our priest who has a wonderful spiritual heritage. I am a retired Protestant pastor myself but coming to orthodoxy showed me how little I really knew and how patient God has been with me all this time! Glory to God for all things!

The process has been hard for me. I have been very slow to shed my ways. Lord have mercy.

Coming to Catachumin classes has been like going to a hospital and the doctor says " not good, you're sick and we will need to replace your organs." Oh? Which ones doctor? " All of them. "
It's been painful ( but with Joy)
My priest's only advice so far has been patience... Be patient.

I’ve studied Orthodoxy for many years. There are things that attract me and things that repel me. I’m happy where I am, but no doubt i’m thankful for my Orthodox brothers and sisters in Christ. Great video

I was Chrismated into the Orthodox church this year on August 6th. I will be 55 in October. I came from a family that was raised nominal Roman Catholic in Central America (Costa Rica), when we came to the US my parents encountered the Protestant / Pentecostal community of faith. I went on to pastor a Free Methodist Church in Los Angeles. Finding myself on the path of the ancient faith has been transcendent and truly a wonderful part of the whole journey. The more I learn to surrender my will to God's will, the more HE illuminates my nous and the less reliant I've become to lean on my own understanding - in all my ways I will to acknowledge HIM so HE can direct my path, make the path straight and remove any obstacle. I have learned how much I don't know. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I can confess a peace that transcends all understanding. Thank you for sharing this video. If I can offer two virtues worth pursuing that I believe have made this journey so fulfilling for me personally, they would be: Honesty and Humility...

9:18 “Brings us back to the poem. . . “ this really hit me hard. I’m a Presbyterian and really appreciate many aspects of that tradition, but always felt that something was missing. . . God bless you Jonathan.

This is one of my favourite offerings to-date from Johnathan. From the depth and the simplicity, of study and knowing, of the eternal and now.

Thank you

I’m considering joining the Orthodox Church . A real community of believers who will actually aid each other on the road to Salvation

I too am in the process of my Catechumen phase in the Orthodox Church. After coming home here, and through all my studies with the Orthodox Church, Jesus Christ teachings and understanding them better, the Desert Fathers, and their wisdom, there is no turning back to any other church again. There is nowhere else I would rather be.This is the real church God meant for us to BE. Orthodoxy is a way of life and that way of life is following Jesus and doing what he instructs us to do, taking his teachings seriously in our lives in a way that is gentle but so real that the Holy Spirit shows you the truth that you cannot denye. We all live with some great sorrows in our lives, but It is good to know, that we are all in this together, and we don't have to journey alone. We can have Jesus in the boat with us always, as long as we invite him in and trust and believe him and the scriptures, and along side the church.
