5 Common Mistakes Beginner Welders Make While Welding.
Items I use:

I've done them all so learn from my mistakes.
Most of these apply to all welding processes including flux core, mig, stick and tig. Most examples were done with the cheap Harbor Freight Titanium 125 flux core welder just to show that you don't need the Miller or ESAB to put out good welder and of course I've added in a couple tips and Tricks to making your welds look AWESOME!

Question. My neighbor is telling me, a flux core weld like what you're doing here, he says, is a "cold" weld and not very strong, or rather not strong enough to be much use and suggested using the other welds types that use gas instead to get.... by his definition, a "hot" weld. Or is this just more misinformation? As a1st project, i want to diy and make my own cheapo a "stump vise" for sharpening my chainsaw on the move. My neighbor says with flux, the metals aren't going to hold, especially if I'll be needing to hammer the stump vise into a thick tree stump so that i can set my chainsaw into the vise and sharpen it easier while in the woods as opposed to walking the saw all the way back to the workbench. My idea for the stump vise is to take a $5 - 2 inch clamp and weld two scrap pieces of flat iron to to the back side of the clamp to make the posts for the clamp. then file those posts into pointy spikes. Won't be hammering directly on the welds but I will be hammering the clamp itself to get the posts to stick into a tree stump. Is this doable with a flux core welder? 2nd question. Can you flux core weld exhaust leaks? If not, what's the cheapest way to fix that? Thanks

1st time welding I put auto dark helmet on and didn’t know how dark it would get .I pressed the button and everything went black I could barely see what I was welding.basically like walking into a room at night turning switch on and off .
