Update! SPOILER

I actually picked up the car today (it came in early) and I love it! Going from driving for seven years in a '99 beater to now driving in a '24 brand new hybrid- the improvement is absurd lol. I've learned so much from reading the comments on this video and I wish I had a time machine to go back and use some of your tips 😂 Thank you all for watching!!

Edit: ALSO, because I'm tired of responding to the individual comments. Yes, 8.29% apr for 84 months is high, if I paid on schedule it would amortize to about 5k in interest. I plan to pay it off early, but chose the longer term for lower payments as a financial "cushion." The credit card I'm using for the remaining 4.8k is a new credit card with 0% apr for 18 months, not something with 15-20% interest.

Update 5/22/24: This vid is public again. There was some drama with the dealership but basically I agreed to censor the salespeople's names as a courtesy. The first salesman was only two weeks into the job so be nice in the comments, we all have to start somewhere.

The strongest negotiating tactic is the ability to walk away.

"I"m surprised we had it available." This isn't a vintage Ferrari, he's talking about a Toyota Corolla.

I like when the salesman offered $1500 off and then the manager came in and said the best he could do was $579 off.

Once was haggling hard for a new car and salesman used the line "whats this car really worth to you?". Well i could not resist. I said " if i drive it off the lot, turned around and wanted to immediately sell it back to you. Whatever you offer is how much its worth to me.". He had nowhere to go with that argument.

The fact that he was willing to walk away, and mean it, was his greatest bargaining tool.

Buying a car is one of the worse experiences a human can endure.

I've met Drug Dealers who have more honest Salesmanship Practices than Car Dealers.

Dude did a great job staying silent. He let the awkward pauses work for him.

Fun fact: when a car salesman goes to buy a car, he enters a quantum entanglement state with the other salesman

I will never pay a market adjustment. Pure greed

As soon as I saw the words “Adjusted Market Value” I walk out the door.

We should get rid of dealerships and allow purchasing direct from manufacturer.

I am such a doormat when it comes to haggling. I have a misconception that I need to be mean and harsh. It is very helpful to hear how you stay positive, kind, and chipper even, but still strong and firm. Thank you, this is extremely helpful for people like me.

I can only imagine how much the salesman's blood boils when he hears "I guess I'll just have to save up and try again next year"😂

As a 23 year old with virtually no experience dealing with salesmen, this video was unbelievably informative. Thank you!!
