If you have even the slightest inclination to leave your evangelical church, you should. But not for the reason you think I'm going to say. This is a niche TikTok for slightly frustrated to totally disgruntled American evangelicals.

First off, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your church. There probably is, but that's not why I'm saying you should leave. Second, if you're happy at your church, I'm not talking to you. But if you've been wondering lately, "Should I leave this church?" The answer is yes.

There's two ways this can go. One, it goes smoothly, and you're happier, or you discover, "Oh, I was happier there," and you go back. Two, it doesn't go smoothly. You lose your friends and your community, and you might think, "Oh, that's why I should stay." But no, you absolutely may experience extreme difficulties in leaving a church, but it is the fact that you're experiencing those things that prove it's the kind of place that you need to leave. Either you leave, and they're kind and accepting, which is a great result. You can decide what to do from there. Or you leave, and they make your life miserable by rejecting you, defaming you, belittling you, proving you made the right choice in leaving.

My church is online and even them
I don’t agree with politically or any anti lgbt stuff or women must submit and shut up stuff. I believe in Jesus but see there is plenty of toxicity in churches and Christianity.

We left years ago. No one noticed I guess. We got a letter a few months later reminding us that the following Sunday we needed to bring extra money as a “love offering” for the pastors. I’m technically living in poverty. The pastor lives in a gated community. 2 people, 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and a pool. 😂😂😂 They got no love from us that Sunday nor ever again. We’ve not been back to any church since and are happier (and less judgmental of others) than ever.

I don’t go to church, but I really respect this opinion! You’re a good man. Although not religious, god is everything and everywhere to me. If we are atoms, and made of the universe, then we are just the universe trying to understand itself. If that’s not gods work I don’t know what is. But all I know is it’s up to the individual to find that balance, and I dislike others trying to influence that journey directly (I.e. religions on the whole) sorry for the rant haha
