I don't know about Purple, but i used in bmw e36 m50 only liqui molly full synthetic 5w-40, oil change every 8-10k km, after 330k km i did change the valve steam seals (the engine start to take 150-200 ml of oil between changes) so we had to open the engine and we were very excited to see every detail just like new engine only in golden color.
So i am sure this is the best oil for bmw.

Your test is flawed. You’re supposed to heat the engine oil to 400°F for the sheer test! Why don’t you follow ASTM? Heat the oil and you’ll see the real winners

Liqui molly for the win plus ceratec in every oil change for my bmw. Reduced oil consumption great performance . Also low engine noise. I love it used plenty different brands and it is the one that I like the most👍🏻👍🏻

That is not Royal Purple's top engine oil. HPS is Roayal purple's best oil. I have asked repeatedly why you aren't comparing these top line oils against Royal Purples best you wont give a strait answer. What gives?

Try MPT Thirty K, 100% Synthetic Ester made in USA. It has a TBN of 12.5 and is supposed to last 30, 000 miles. Their SDS shows it blowing away Amsoil Signature Series in numerous tests.

Some modern diesels from Germany have required oils like never before. I suppose that means German chemical companies have to create oils like never before. They have to endure a high soot loading from the high EGR flow, more fuel contamination caused by active regen, and they have to have extremely low sulfated ash based additives to extend the life of the DPF. In addition, these engine manufacturers call for something no heavier than 5w30 to maximize fuel economy.


Some of these oils have their own specification names, VW has 507 and Mercedes Benz has 229.52. Reading reports of how those oils are made are an interesting read.


I'm not saying that only German companies can make it either. Pennzoil, Castrol, Mobil, and Motul make some of these types of oils.

Sorry, no. The top three "full" Synthetic motor oils are: Liqui Moly, Motul, and Amsoil in the correct viscosity for your vehicle. But really, it's whatever makes you happy as long as it is fully synthetic and meets the API Ns SAE specifications for your vehicle.

SAE stands for the Society of Automotive Engineers (United States). An oil rated as SAE Oil (for example, SAE 5W30) denotes its viscosity. API stands for American Petroleum Institute. Engine oil with an API rating means that the lubricant meets the minimum performance standard accepted by auto manufacturers.

PS - Change your oil & filter every 5, 000 miles or six months, whichever occurs first. Oil & filters are cheap, but engines are expensive. LOL

Moly is a solid, specifically banned by Cummins, who makes diesel engines, due to excessive valve train wear.

Moly (Molybdenum Disulfide) is a processed mineral that is similar in appearance to graphite. This can actually clog oil filters or oil lines and the rest normally settles in the bottom of the oil pan. This seems to be more likely when using extended drain intervals. Thus since most European cars are diesel, thus it's not wise to use Liqui Moly or any other oil with moly in it.


In America, we have at least one Moly user, and that's Royal Purple, the very one you tested against the European oil, therefore I wonder about your results.
