The king who devours his son is the perfect analogy for my father and me. He systematically tried to crush my potential.

The relationship between a father and his children is essential which is why so many families are left in ruin because the Dad left or died. Jordan Peterson is exactly right in this discussion about illegitimate children and father's.

I love my father. I call him Daddy. Every time I go to church, we all pray for him to get better.

Jordan Nailed it!
Profound message for me,
being an "illegitimate child.”
Thankfully I had an amazing Mom.

The art of fatherhood is a fast disappearing skill. Each generation that grows up without a healthy fatherhood relationship/experience damages the next and we get further and further behind. and more lost. If JP wants to accomplish another book how to be a healthy parent for mothers and fathers (and even non-parents with at-risk youth in their lives) is a much needed topic.

I didn't have much of a relationship with my dad, but that was his doing, not anybody else's, he wanted our stepdad at the time to adopt us so he wouldn't have any responsibility, or have to pay the little pittance in child support he always grumbled about anymore. His actions told me that he probably didn't really want kids cause even when he was with my mom, he stayed away from the home as much as possible to work and live his life like he would if he didn't have kids.

Effectively being reminded on a semi routine basis that being a father can't possibly be as valuable as being a mother is fun.

A Book you might be interested to read, "Molecules of Emotion"
by Dr. Candace Pert.
Not a Christian book.
She discovered the opiate receptor.
In this book she teaches that we literally do have "gut feelings", in that we have neuroreceptors throughout our bodies.
This explains the science behind the possibility of dying from a broken heart.
I seems to me to be yet another clear instruction to seek the forgiveness and love of

I am a step father to a 12 year old and 6 year old boy.
For my six year old I am "dad" and he is as much my
son. My 12 year old son knows his biological father but
has not spoken to him in 3 years. Three crucial years
in his life that I believe "shapes" the person and man
he will grow to become. He calls me by my first name
but refers to me as his dad to friends and classmates.
They are both my son's as much as my biological
daughter (my "stepson's sister") is my child. I follow
Dr. Peterson and support almost everything he stands
for. My question is, what does Dr. Peterson mean by
"real dad"?

👍A coupla bulls'eyes. Your inventory of damage to the son is scathingly accurate. I do give my Pop💔credit. He humbled himself, apologized, became a great friend. Better late than never. Moms, hm. Mine lost her mom very early.

I needed this my dad is in prison and I have adhd so I strugle raising my three kids who also have ADHD so I want to not be like my dad ive had my mom my whole life she did most of the raising my dad just drank to much and my parents got divorced when we where about 5 years old and all her bf a**h**** I want to raise good men out of my sons all while trying to block out the trauma so I work a easy job because I lack self worth and have so much memory blocking that I even blocked out the good somehow as well so I can't remember a lot now of days and it is like how to raise kids boys at that with no real memory's other than siblings recolections and family friends. and use what your parents taught you to teach your childeren or In my case what not to teach them/ filter out how much of my depressed parents raised me like and replace it with fresh new healthier tactics biut my wife is from a really togher family and so alot of the grandparents rules and ways come from them . anyway I'd like to be the rare instinct that does greater than that of the man before me
