Dr Gregg Gerstin discusses sleep apnea issues and if it could be the cause of your vertigo.

Are vertigo and sleep apnea related? Today I answer a viewer's question related to sleep apnea causing other issues. While the answer to this isn’t straight forward, sleep apnea and vertigo are both things you can possibly get resolved by chiropractic care for sleep apnea treatment.

Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder that causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start. The side effects from this can be numerous, and it is important to get looked at by a professional if you suffer from this. There is a relation between sleep apnea and the spine, so it is important to get examined by a chiropractor.

I've developed constant daytime dizziness for the past three weeks. Took various tests but couldn't find the cause. In the past I've been told by many that I stop breathing and gasp for air during sleep so it's clear that I have sleep apnea (and it's been going on for a very long time). Already booked a sleep test at the hospital and should get an appointment sometime later this month. Also have a nose polyp on the right side, and the doctor says both are possible causes. will probably get a CPAP machine after getting the sleep test results.

I have a lower herniated disk and after that diagnosis I started occasionally having what I could only describe as dream vertigo. While in the dream something will happen where I spin or move eradicatly I feel the disorientation and come out of the dream into a dizziness, sometimes sweating and I’ve definitely thrown up a lot. The last several times it’s happened It’s been much less intense and usually breathing, finding a comfortable position to lay, water/food. I’ve had it where if I fall back asleep it it’ll happen again and again until I get up. I can go several weeks without it happening and I’m about a year and a half into this. I also thought it could be from how much more I lay and bend my neck to look at my phone or the tv. This video makes me feel like I’m on the right path with the neck kink thought process. It seems to also be more likely to happen if I’m dehydrated. Any other advise you could offer.
