When Lelouch became emperor, He effectively turned the board arround. He went from being the black king (Zero) to the white king (Emperor of Britania). His whole goal was to have the Black King win the game and that was only possible if no other pieces were on the board that could fight him, like his brother and the super nukes (forgot the name). It was also a way for him to atone for the sins of war and mistakes he made (the deaths of his half sister, Shirley and her father, adoptive brother, etc all of which he blames himself for). Honestly, if the truth was known to the world, I wonder how the anime's ending would be different.

In today's world where countries are having war left and right, humanity needs hope and new beginnings. Lelouch has a special place in my heart, I'm always proud to say to my friends about this show ❤ In the end, he really gave peace to the world, the way he wanted his sister to have, even when that meant the whole world hating him😢

One of the underrated parts of the ending Is how Suzaku simultaneously gets his wish to die and be the hero of Japan. He dies because he now has to live his life as zero effectively killing Suzaku kurorugi. He also gets to be the hero of Japan by uniting Britanians and elevens by killing LeLouch.
