The fact that Lelouch never refuses the blame for Euphemia's massacre is the best insight to his core character.

There’s a reason why he’s the most favorited character on MAL.

Lelouch is what happens when you stick to your ideals to the end.
Suzaku is what happens when you lose yourself along the path you walked. (Which is terrifying to people. Probably it’s why he is disliked)

in my opinion the best anime protagonist is dora from dora the explorer, her exploration skills extend far beyond anything within the human imagination

"Ends up losing rolo" is such a weird thing to hear but is still fitting. Cause rolo really did eventually make a mark on lelouch, despite how much he despised him throughout R2

I like how Guts and Lelouch are his most praised protagonists despite how different they are. Guts is lacking motivation in golden age, he is wandering from battle to battle searching for some kind of purpose. He has a goal of revenge against Griffith but he's mostly wandering around struggling to survive, fighting for the simple right to stay alive. He's just trying his best to make it through the day with only a vague plan how to. He is relatable for that aspect of his character. Lelouch on the other hand is focused and calculated, deffinetly more proactive. He is more admirable than relatable. His goal is monumental and unreachable, jet he marches forward nonetheless. Both are great protagonists but I find them hard to compare because how different they are.

“If happiness had a form, what would it look like? It might be something like glass, because one doesn’t notice it normally. However, it is actually there. As proof, if you look at it from a different angle, the glass will reflect light. It will state its presence and existence more eloquently than any other thing in this world.”- Lelouch Lamperouge

Watched this show for the first time exactly one year ago. Followed by Steins;Gate and Fate/Zero. Honestly don’t think I’ll ever find a better streak of Entertainment.

I think that Suzaku is often oversimplified and overlooked in terms of his depth. He is the way he is because he killed his father. As a child, he saw that Japan's resistance to Britannia was futile and that it was only resulting in more unnecessary deaths, and he took it upon himself to kill a family member at a very young age in order to bring about peace. In order to justify this to himself, he *had to* join the Britannian army to stop farther resistance and to try to stop the oppression by reforming the system from within. He *couldn't* agree with Zero's methods, because, if conflict was the right answer after all, then that would mean he killed his dad for *nothing*, and that thought is beyond unbearable to him.

whoever were the people or the person that came up with Lelouch's character is the pure genius behind one of the Best Anime protagonists that ever existed.

My favorite thing about Lelouch is that everything about him screams "I'm the villain!" He often has that scowl on his face, with his student and Zero personas all using dark colors, his custom Burai, the Gawain, and Shinkiro all look evil and menacing, and on paper, he is opposing every logical "good" system in the show. On paper, it looks like Suzaku and his noble steed the Lancelot are the good guys here, Zero and his Black Knights are just a rebellious element that needs to be put down. And yeah, with some of the things Zero does, he absolutely is the villain, so many people have died because of his actions. But in the end, it's Lelouch that seeks to truly change the world for the better, and by god, the man actually does it.
