Great-Grandmas Old Fashioned Raisin Cake:

2 sticks butter or margarine
1 cup raisins
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp all spice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
2 cups water
***cook on stove, refer to video***
Then add:
2 cups all purpose flour (more if needed)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
Greased 13x9 baking dish
350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

I’ve been reading my Bible lately, like actually reading entire books beginning to end. I noticed in several books people eat raisin cake. Abigail grabbed 200 raisin cakes and other groceries to feed David’s men for example. I wonder if this recipe is close to the ancient Bronze Age recipe. The old version might’ve been made with olive oil and syrup.
