How to Massage Your C-Section Scar

I often get the question if you need pelvic rehab if you had a cesarean birth. Cesarean scar restriction can have side effects that lead to painful sex, back pain, and bowel and bladder issues for others. So C-section mommas can absolutely still benefit from working with a pelvic therapist.

One of the biggest challenges moms may face is touching, looking and working on their scar. It can hold a lot of emotion and while working on it may feel super challenging, it can also be incredibly beneficial physically and emotionally.

Some simple ways to start from home:
✔️ Start with some deep diaphragmatic breaths and let your tummy breathe into your hand to begin touch to the area
✔️Use different textures like a makeup brush, wash cloth, or cotton swab to help with different sensations on the area
✔️Once the scar is completely healed you can begin massaging over the scar up and down and on different directions
✔️Using silicon over the scar can help with appearance and mobility
✔️Begin with gentle core strengthening exercises as you recover and return to workouts

There is such little care given to moms after birth and especially after a major surgery like cesarean birth. It’s never too late to start working on your scar, your core, and your recovery 💖

I've had four Csections and none
Of nurses or doctors ever told me this! That's crazy! I've started doing this after almost 3 years since my last one.
