Catalan Independence is not just about Spain. It shows one path forward for Europe. Not a good one.

The catlan reigon is one of the most developed areas of spain, majority of them were fine when they were getting extra funds, but suddenly when spain wants to start funding other areas of spain they want independence, the truth is, that they dont want to be taxed and that money going to develop other areas of spain, of course there are people in catalonia who truly just want independence and dont care about this issue but i think a sizeable amount are only doing it for this reason.

I've seen many commentaries here writing about how Catalonia want to leave just because economical crisis... Well, if that was true, why this same movement didn't started in the early 90s which also have a huge crisis? Catalonian people are fed up because the constant disrespect to Catalan culture, the economical reason is just another big reason, but not as big as the cultural one.

why are Europeans so hostile to each other? it's almost as if europe has a culture of animosity towards other european nations ?

I think they will do well economically. A lot of small countries usually thrive more. They more motivated, easy to handle, less coruption. But if war happens it is usually weaker with separate country.

Robert, I did watch your video, and do understand that the central government in Madrid was conciliatory on how it over reacted on the referendum, but could putting the central government on a diet be the solution?

Another impressively good video packed with a lot of info that will save me a lot of time. It leaves me wondering how MFF can keep up this level of productivity and quality.

A few thoughts.

MFF talks about how the EU is a kind of glue that holds Spain together, yet its currency policy is contributing to Spain's breakdown. I am not sure what to conclude about the EU in general except that the currency policy is a disaster, and not only for Spain. Greece is being destroyed in part by fealty to the construct.

It is an interesting proposition that the EU gives Europeans an immunity to their history. I don't know. It may be that it can only suppress national identities/history for so long. Eventually they will always reassert themselves since national identities are a deeply held human feature or even instinctive need.

The argument about Parliamentary representation may not be that strong since in practically every country with more than 2 strong parties, it can be uncommon to see a majority, yet governments and policy still emerge. Even Canada has a very large parliamentary majority party in place elected on only 38% of the vote that is making sweeping changes.

Separation may be an eventual outcome in most cases where a nation grants autonomy to a distinct region. This does not bode well for Canada with Quebec or the UK with Scotland.

Why should Barcelona want to continue to attach itself to Spain if Spain is literally holding them back?

Thank you for your video. Based on what you said, Catalan is almost an independent country in a sense that they have a president and a parliament! So why do they want independence?

Hey MoFreedomFoundation! Please try to save up and backup your videos. You might've heard of the recent political purges on YouTube, and Ryan Dawson had both his main and alternate channels deleted. I don't want the same to happen to you.
