That will be really interesting to see how that goes in the long term.

I am a follower of your video.
I have a 2007 vigo 4wd 3.0cc.
When I engage the 4WD, I find it difficult to disengage.I do not use the 4WD often. It seems stuck. The oil begins to smell after a while when engage.
I am fromTrinidad and suffered 3 engine failure due to poor or bad workmanship. Can you advise?
Thank you, i have learnt a lot from your videos .

About a year ago once the annoying (and that’s all it was) oil leak developed on our highly modified 2007 Prado with 330, 000 klms was found to be in the same position relative to the head (maybe it was on the corner) and the crack was an extension of the plastic lug for a bolt, I decided to immediately go a genuine replacement.
The thing is plastic is never going to outlast a decent cast metal cover, plastic will deteriorate with age and number of hot cold cycles. Also near zero starting can’t be good for it.
Plastic has a far different thermal rate of expansion to the metal it sits on. Sure it’s very little, but that movement over time can only lead to one thing.
In cold climates, put the old girl into an enclosed garage.
Another tip: especially in farming areas, put a hanging mothball in the engine bay every two months.
It will save expensive rewiring (if you can find the damage in the first place). Now all our vehicles have this practice done.
I had a rats nest in one of my cars years ago and this was the trick I was told. They hate the smell and will go find another vehicle or dog biscuits etc.
We lived near a swamp full of rats once and unfortunately I could not put the Prado away in the garage for a while, but the mothballs did their job.

You'd be the first to criticize a dodgey repair like that, if it was someone else's attempt at repairing that leak..

Good video. Thanks mate. Id let him know so he knows youve tried to help him for free. Its a good moral booster for the customer and if hes cashed up and pedantic he can spend the $350 bada bing bada boom! If ya know what i mean! 👍

Definitely mention to the owner what you've done. It may be no big deal, but a favour can't be appreciated if the client doesn't know about.

If it ain't broke then don't fix it. If a bit of RTV works then the job is done.
