Welcome to the EMS Youtube Channel, The Paramedic Coach. This channel discusses everything EMS education covering; EMT School, AEMT School, and Paramedic School.

When starting your EMS career you first need to land an EMT Job. The EMT (sometimes still called an EMTb) is the first rank in most paid ambulance services and can be found in either emergency EMS or non-emergency transport also known as IFT (inter-facility transport).

Inside this video, I'll discuss the differences between 911 and IFT for EMS providers and what the day in life will look like for both EMTs.

Be Great,

Evan, The Paramedic Coach®

I've been doing IFT for the last year and I love it! I'm able to build my skills and become a better EMT. I plan on going to 911 next year. Thankyou for all these videos! They're all amazing!

One issue I noticed is sometimes 911 based EMTs will look at IFT as less than... Don't look down at anyone. We are in this together... Idc if you do 911 or IFT, you need help, I'm still here for you. You might see me struggling and teach me something.

Here's an update I have been working IFT as an EMR which is ECA in the state of Texas. It's been almost 5 months and I am happy to say it's helpful for my future goal.

Pepe hate on IFT, but as a first EMS job, it's good money considering most of the private companies pay more than some 911 sites.

Thanks for this video. I just got certified and was asking myself this very question. You confirmed what I was thinking and I'mm going to look at a local service that services alot of the nursing homes in my area as well as providing IFT to non residents.

IFT is perfect if you want to move up in terms of school like if your going for something more than EMS, RN, doctor etc. lots of companies work with your schedule!

I would recommend IFT and if you would like, go volunteer for 911 in a nearby county to get a taste for both. Especially if you want to build the skills and experience before you go into 911 full time. That's what I'm going to do.

I started IFT then became IFT with a paramedic on a ALS rig got my ACLS did a lot of stand bye for movies, raves, marathons . learn to read ECG, AND 12 LEADS learn medications cause of the great medics I was partner with. responded to motorcycle accidents to degloved now I'm doing 911 and the confidence and pt assessment to bedside manner and even knowing what the nurses are looking for in a report makes me 911 easy. 911 the environment the pt is in is unstable. but I dot regret IFT one bit

IFT does not mean the patient is stable! Patient coded as I walked through the door for a discharge last week.

What would you consider emergency transport from ER to ER?

IFT, emergent, some hybrid?
