My Craziest Call as a 911 Paramedic

You never know who you will see at your next 911 emergency call. I share a story with you about the time I was called for a Paramedic Intercept for a critical hypoglycemia patient. This is one of those calls that you never forget.

When someone asked me "What's the craziest call you've seen as a Paramedic?" This is always the first call that runs in my head, because of the way it impacted me and my patient.

I hope that you as a new EMT, or new paramedic can learn from this 911 call and become a better provider from hearing my experience.

Grab some popcorn and enjoy this 911 story from my EMS career.

Be Great!

Retired from EMS a few years ago. Don't miss it. Love to hear the stories and understand the struggles but so glad I'm not there with you

I recently passed my NREMT, and have to thank you because a large part was due to your videos and breaking down questions and medical concepts really was an amazing and useful tool to use and really clarified alot of the material for me

I just wanted to thank you for your videos and help with my career and education. The videos here on YouTube and the comment section have helped me a lot through emt school and to the point I’m at now. I have an AO interview and I’m hoping I get the spot with this FD. Thank you all

I’ve recently applied for medic school, and have an entry exam coming up. Hopefully I pass since I doubt my answers alot. But, being an emt has been the best decision of my life and learned much. Just now need to restudy my skills and textbooks . You’re vids help out alot!

I was a volunteer EMT with small ambulance service in ND (this was early 80's). One night on call there was a call for 10-50 (MV Crash with Property Damage / Personal Injury) south of town. Upon arrival....there was TransAm and Buick Rivera that all over the road. I looked the TransAm and the engineblock was in the passenger compartment. The driver was alive and quite verbal. ND Highway Patrol was on scene before us. I talked with my partner. And, we needed heavy rescue and then he said "XYZ" was in the Buick Rivera. Well, "XYZ" was the ambulance service director (we had Paramedic who was the Ambulance Service Director). He was by today''s standard a Trauma Code. Bilateral lower leg Fractures, Flail Chest, fractured jaw for highlights. That was my weirdest call. I remember that as clear as yesterday, some nearly 38 years later.

I'm an EMT about to start medic school. During my time as an EMT I had a double shooting with a mom and son. The father shot the mom in the head, she was DOA. The five or six-year-old son was shot through the left shoulder and was in traumatic arrest. We worked up the kid the whole way to the hospital and they called it. That day sucked. The weirdest part of the whole thing was a couple weeks later I saw a kid at the grocery store who looked just like him. That was creepy. I still love EMS though.

I just purchased your guide yesterday and I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to create something like it. I'm currently in school for fire fighter 2 and I'm listening to your podcasts as I do homework for that class. I'm already planning on watching your videos several times. Since I'm only doing emt school this year do you think it would be beneficial or harmful to watch the AEMT and paramedic stuff?

One of my supervisors was on a cardiac arrest for an on duty FF. After pronouncing him, he saw the name and it was a former transporting medic/supervisor we all worked with for many years. He had not idea... It took him out. I guess in a way, it was probably good he didn't know who it was while coding him.
