“You’ll never use this in the field”, that’s literally the exact shit my instructor told me 😂💯

My EMT instructor: "you couldn't pay me enough to go back to medic school"

These guys will go broke, go underappreciated, and even go hungry. But with all the knowledge they have, they're going to survive the zombie apocalypse all the way through.

I don’t know how my parents survive sometimes. My dad is the only paid Paramedic in the department where they live and he was the only ALS certified for a very long time.

Despite only being a volunteer, my mom takes probably 95% of all ambulance calls, my dad is right there with her.

They are desperate for more EMS, specifically paramedics, but most people aren’t willing to move to a small town, to not get paid, to save everyone from both absurd and life threatening things.

I find it appalling that any city is able to get away with not paying these selfless people for their countless hours of sacrifice!

"Is this something we're gonna use a lot in the field?"
"No, you're never gonna use this in the field."

So true for so many things they insisted I know.... haha..

On the very first day of my paramedic school was a sort of orientation during which the program director and instructors laid out the course load and expectations for the students. Once they were done about a third of the students picked up their stuff and left. The attrition rate did not really drop from there, either...

Wow. The zombie method. They teach that in engineering as well. Very popular method. So versatile. New parents use it.

Reminds me of the first day of xray tech school.

"We got a cryer. There's always one."

This is so true of my experience during paramedic school it hurts to think about. 😂

Forgot the "+80h OT I need to eat this week" method.

For those of you who want to become a medic for surviving the zombie apocalypse (or any disaster), I say that is a totally valid reason. Those skills are going to be super valuable, both alone and as part of a team.
Along the same line, I also highly encourage handypeople. Disasters could blow through, &/or society could collapse, but houses and tools would still need building and maintaining, so plumbers, builders, etc. (so many) would be very valuable.

"Why do you want to be a paramedic?"

In my mind: I want to have the skills to survive a zombie apocalypse

"To help people"

Plus 50 method wasn't officially mentioned in my Intro to Paramedic Practice class ... but it should definitely be highlighted in Chapter 2 of the Nancy Caroline book.

I’m in paramedic school right now and this is 100 percent accurate 😂

We got tested on something once and our instructor informed us that we should never actually do that in the field, because everyone would laugh at us. There were much more practical ways to do it.

I just got accepted into the paramedic program and after this video I'm finding it hard to remember why I want to do this to myself.

So it’s like accounting class! “This is not a real way of accounting, but you are required to learn it and will be tested on it”

Yep, on field shifts right now, and I've never seen them calculate doses. They always estimate.

This needs a cameo from LongBeachGriffy getting up and saying, "Nope. No. I'm going home. I'm.. I'm going home, " as he walks out of the door.
